Not sure about Texas but in Florida you CAN’T be sued if the shooting is justified.

That self-defense argument may work in Texas, too. I’m not sure.

Actually there have already been several cases that used that law - including one Dem state lawmaker who had voted against the law, who shot two home intruders in broad daylight. Oddly enough, he has no comment on why he thinks he should have rights that he wishes to deny to his constituents.

Well, of course. That can happen. It does happen. I still don’t blame the guy. Usually these security guys are elderly.

In Texas, we had that in case law only until recently. Now we have Castle Doctrine, so it is codified in written law as well.

It’s their culture (/s). “Sergi” is a bit different, though.

I wonder if his employer knew he had that rifle and if he'll be working there tomorrow.I would doubt it.

As in, in Texas, you (or your estate) cannot sue for damages resulting from a crime that you committed or were responsible for.

Some real ambitious criminals, robbing a security guard. Were they going for his thermos of hot coffee?
To: traditional1
The world is a little safer tonight and future potential victims of these scumbags won’t be victimized.

"Its their culture (/s). "But the KEY question is: what will Jesse Jackass and Al Sharptoon think about this? (especially if the "victims" were not armed)

It is not at all uncommon for armed security guards in Texas to carry a sidearm and have a long arm such as a shotgun or rifle in the car. If he was armed security and had his certifications in order, he probably has a job still.

Maybe they’ll still be involved with the upstanding perpetrators of the six-on-one beating in Louisiana.
