Craig Vows to Serve Out Senate Term
Breitbart ^ | 4 October 2007 | Breitbart

WASHINGTON (AP) - Idaho Sen. Larry Craig defiantly vowed to serve out his term in office on Thursday despite losing a court attempt to rescind his guilty plea in a men's room sex sting. "I have seen that it is possible for me to work here effectively," Craig said in a written statement certain to disappoint fellow Republicans who have long urged him to step down.

Craig had earlier announced he would resign his seat by Sept. 30, but had wavered when he went to court in hopes of withdrawing his plea.

The third-term lawmaker issued his statement not long after Idaho Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter relayed word he has selected a replacement for Craig in the event of a resignation.

"He is ready to act should we receive a letter of resignation," said Jon Hanian, Otter's spokesman in Boise, in what seemed like a calculated signal that home-state Republicans want Craig to surrender the seat he has held for 17 years.

In his statement, Craig said he will not run for a new term next year.

But in the meantime, he said: "I will continue my effort to clewar my name in the Senate Ethics Committee—something that is not possible if I am not serving in the Senate."

His American Conservative Union Voter pattern is 88-96% conservative. What part of this pattern is evil?

He shuld be commended. For a public restroom cruising poofter, that is a serious sacrifice, as he will have to curtail those activitiies that are in his genes, as the American Psychological Association has been authoratively telling us for 40 or so years.

He is preserving fifteen months of what would have been forfeited salary.

Never mind the politics: One thing we know about him now: He is thoroughly, completely dishonest.

I wrote my column for this week, this afternoon. As much as I hate to spend time and energy on Larry Craig, I put in a paragraph on him. Now he's made the situation even worse by making an additional liar of himself.

If he had any competent level of self-awareness, he would get out now. He doesn't. So, he's hanging on like Cong. Jefferson (of $90,000 freezer fame). But Craig is a Republican, who are supposed to have morals. Jefferson is a black Democrat, who are excused from having any morals.

That dichotomy is sad, but true.

Craig is a lying skunk and moral reprobate. He is an embarassment to conservatives and even republicans. If the degenerate refuses to fulfill his promise to resign, he should be stripped of all committee assignments and of his senate office .

Ummm... if he is not in the Senate, why would he need to CLEWAR his name with the ethics committee?

Apparently, it's going to take a lot of legal maneuvering. Given the choice of returning to the obscurity from which he came and becoming a late night punch line for years to come, and he's choosing the latter so far.

Unfortunate headline.

I didn’t think Craig was officially “out”.
