I wish I could remember where I read (and who knows if true), that the soldiers on the ground “took” something of interest.
I thank God for a job well done. While everyone else sits around wringing their hands, throwing venomous barbs at each other in the Congress and MSM, SOMEONE had the skill, knowledge, and courage to take care of business. You know, that’s all we really want — to know there really are some folks with two brain cells to rub together trying to keep a rational balance. How many times have I just wanted to stand up and yell, “Okay, everybody on the floor. You’ll move when I tell you can move. If you twitch before I get the job done, you’re a$$ is grass!” I guess there are others like me out there. ;-)
It was all Pinky's fault?
And North Korea got nuclear technology how?
William Jefferson Clinton...
PeeWee was his name.
I don’t think conventional explosives capable of vaporizing uranium or plutonium. The masses are so dense, I can’t believe it would not remain intact.
The initial Atom bomb used an encasing explosive shell to densify to critical mass. I can’t believe an external explosive force would be stronger than the atomic bonds of the mass causing it to vaporize or fly apart.
I discount the possibility of an IAF nuclear device in this incident. We would know by now.
One thing bugs me about the target.
The article says Dayr as Zawr near the border of Turkey.
The only thing I can find is Dayr az Zawr which is on the Euphrates but it’s 100 miles from Turkey. Infact it’s closer to Iraq than it is to Turkey.
Anyone have a bead on where the target area actaully was?
Air to air missiles are not very capable against surface to air missiles. The guys flying air cover were there in case Syrian MiGs came out to play, which they didn’t.
.....the soldiers on the ground took something .....
The question is what?
Why not guess the big enchilada? They stole the bomb.
Soil samples are so drab for a mission of this importance.
What happened to the nuclear material after it was bombed. Did it just disappear? Wouldn’t it scatter instead, which means a “dirty bomb” happened in Syria?
!
It's customary to ping a FReeper when you name him...
That’s not stealth, that’s jamming.
And if it wasn't and F-15I strike, that's also an interesting detail...
All I have been able to find out is that the target was DEEP inside Syria which leads me to believe whatever AD systems Syria had were totally useless - another reason to rejoice - and bless the dear fingers so toil worn for thee, dear Mother Russia, that I do sincerely hope the Iranians think long and hard before they decide to give Israel an answer on October 12, and the Palestinians, and the Egyptians and the Saudis and on and on.
Now if that’s the case, the only country with aircraft capable of that would be the U.S. since we haven’t exported the F-22 to anyone yet that I know of outside of Japan I believe.
That would also make me smile knowing that some one, some where actually has their stuff together and just gets the job done.
Better to beg forgiveness than ask for permission ;)
marked to read more later...
thanx
That is what I would like to think. Confirmed presence with soil samples and observations, retrieved the warhead and got it out via chopper, painted the site for strike, confirmed that items of interest were destroyed, and rendevouz for pickup.
I just wish the area I think it is on Google Earth was better resolution. I wouldn’t expect the picture to be up to date for some time but it would be interesting if a crater could be identified when it is updated.
