Forty-one-year-old Jeri Thompson, the subject of much rumor and innuendo since her 65-year-old husband Fred began mulling a presidential run, says she’s never been “an older-man-dater kind of girl.”
Speaking to People magazine in her first interview since her husband declared his candidacy, she recalls being initially attracted by Fred’s passion for a campaign finance investigation.
Of the allegations that she’s a “trophy wife,” she says it’s “hard not to be defensive” when she thinks back on how hard she’s worked. “I almost think they had to fabricate that trophy-wife stuff because there’s nothing interesting to say,” she said.
The People story, which hits newsstands this Friday, might help her dispel that notion. It opens with her in “sweatpants … her fingernails ragged from stripping wallpaper … her Asscher-cut diamond engagement ring is soaking in a bowl somewhere to cleanse it of diaper rash cream ‘slime.’”

President Fred and First Lady Jeri Thompson. Get out there with the family...show the kids, show them shopping, playing, being together a REAL family in the White House with kids playing on the grounds. What a loving and fun change that would be. Can’t get that with clintin.

It COULD BE viewed as a swipe, but it would be a big stretch, and a warped perspective.
It is more logically viewed just as she meant it...this lady is a mother first. She takes that responsibility very seriously. What a great role model for young mothers! God bless her.
I liked the Hannity interview. Except his little girl goo-gooing on his lap was distracting. She’s cute:) She might be a 7 foot tall Laura Ingraham or Ann Coulter some day. Fred is really a bear with manners.
I haven’t heard any of this gossip. Does this specifically mention a Republican contender that caught his wife?
What am I thinking? Of COURSE it MUST be a Pubbie, or we would not be hearing any gossip at all. It would be covered-up and hush-hush.

It just said a candidate- no party. Some were guessing Elizabeth Edwards too. The juiciest part was that the wife was caught with a key campaign adviser to her husband.
Let me guess Michelle Obama.
I’m mean she’s already the only candidate’s wife who calls her husband smelly and snory.
Jeri Thompson is very astute politically. She’s an asset to Thompson’s campaign, not the ‘drag’ some would like to portray her as.

I wanted to clarify before you take offense yet again - that the pic that Fox chose was one in which she looked pretty sleazy. I’m not saying she is - I’m saying they went out of their way to find the worst possible picture in order to make the headline look true.

Well, I didn’t think it was the most flattering photo. She was almost falling out of the halter top of the dress and the dress itself looked, well, a bit tacky also, IMO. With her wearing that next to Thompson, she looked pretty young and wild, making him look older in comparison. Unfortunately, I think it was used to back up the title.
I like the pics with her with the kids. She looks more mature and more refined.
I know there’s lots of photos out there with those in the spotlight looking not their best. It’s inevitable with photographers everythere. However, those are the ones of Republicans that seem to be the ones printed. Well probably see more like this as time goes on, while the Hillary pictures show her being dignified and presidential. Gag!

I saw her Hannity & Colmes Wed. night. Very impressive. As she gets more exposure, she will only help his campaign.
