Blackwater Probe Ignores their Perfect Record of Protection
American Thinker ^ | October 03, 2007 | Rick Moran

Democrats on the Hill are trying to portray Blackwater Corporation, the security company hired by the State Department to protect its employees in Iraq, as a bunch of out of control cowboys who shoot first and do not differentiate between civilians and insurgents.

But the reality is something a little different as pointed out in StrategyPage.com: Iraqis are upset with Blackwater International, the security firm that provides protection for American diplomats (and many other VIPs) when they travel about. Blackwater recruits experienced military veterans, especially commandos, to do the job. When Blackwater is attacked, they attack right back. Blackwater's aggressiveness and competence is well known in Baghdad, and Iraqi police and civilians stay out of the way. As a result, Blackwater has never lost any of the State Department people they have escorted. But 30 Blackwater personnel have been killed, along with hundreds of Iraqis (armed and unarmed, the terrorist attacks often use civilians for cover). American politicians, who are opposed to the Iraq war, are joining in to attack Blackwater, and accuse it of misbehavior. The State Department remains silent, but is unwilling to give up Blackwater. There are enough experienced people inside the State Department who understand that Blackwater is professional and effective, and you can't beat a perfect record when it comes to security. A report compiled by Democratic staffers for Representative Waxman's Oversight Committee listed 200 incidents involving Blackwater personnel. The report charges that Blackwater employees open fire on insurgents, hitting civilians in the process, and don't stop to check on the wounded but rather keep their vehicles moving. Now I'm not much of a military man but isn't the whole point of an enemy ambush to disable or stop the vehicles so that the occupants can be trapped and killed? And Democrats are complaining that Blackwater refused to commit suicide by stopping their vehicles after a firefight to help with the wounded?

I am not much enamored with the idea of private security firms being so prevelant in Iraq. But clearly, Blackwater is something of an exception. A perfect security record after 4 years in such a violent land is a record to be proud of.

That rather amazing record is now out in the public record courtesy of witch hunting Democrats. I think the law of unintended consequences is at play here.

Bad week for the leftwingnuts.

I’d like to see how Blackwater’s record (~200 shoots, 16 kills, etc.) stacks up with, oh, say, the Denver PD, or the BATFE, or the FBI. So that we can put Blackwater in context to our nation’s finest. How many Eagle Scouts has Blackwater shot? How many women nursing their babies?

CLUE ~ the folks pushing the Blackwater investigation actually want them off the job so that Department of State employees presently protected will be less well protected and will get hurt or killed.

The point is to create an atmosphere of fear throughout State that leads its employees to recommend withdrawal from the Middle East.

Wonder if the FBI is looking into the folks pushing the investigation?

Another Phony Scandal!

If it's one thing liberal democrats really hate is companies like Black Water & Hallibuton that supply support and logistics for our brave soldiers.

In my opinion, the goal of the Blackwater probe is to put more soldiers under fire. If Blackwater doesn’t do the job it will fall to no one or to American troops. There’s nothing the democrats want more than a body count.

I’m not opposed to private security firms in warzones but I don’t like the fact that they make the big bucks for the same job our soldiers do for next to nothing.

Most of the Blackwater folks are ex-soldiers.

Also, Congress mandated this so don’t blame Blackwater or the other security firms.

Blackwater is simply the current target of the Congressional Dems in their never-ending attempts to lose the war, discredit the Administration, and reamke the USA as some socialist atheist utopia. Ninety-nine percent of Congress isn’t fit to carry Blackwater’s jock strap!

Maybe the people “investigating” Blackwater shouldn’t go to Iraq anymore...

The people investigating Blackwater should be required to go to Afghanistan and Iraq WITHOUT Blackwater.

Better yet, let them take a walk up North Capital at 2 AM without police escort.

Anti-military, anti-war congressional RATS are looking for a scapegoat. And they found one in Blackwater.
