DETROIT -- A federal grand jury indicted a high-ranking Detroit immigration official of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, and four other metro Detroit men on multiple counts of bribery, conspiracy and extortion.
-----------
The indictment charges state that Bailey misused his position as the assistant district director with the INS by accepting large sums of money and other property in return for granting immigration benefits, including the release of several people who were in INS and DHS-ICE custody.
-----------
The federal jury also indicted Mohamad Arzouni, 59, of Dearborn Heights, and Mohammad Bazzi, 61, a former Detroit resident along with Bailey and Chahine with conspiring to defraud the United States by obtaining immigration benefits, such as resident status, through use of false marriages arranged with U.S. citizens who were La Shish employees.
