This afternoon we received a call from a viewer who said a business near downtown Reno was flying a Mexican flag above an American flag... which is in fact illegal.
This, after photos and comments about the flag were posted on Craigslist this morning. When we were able to have a photographer go and check everything out we found the story to be true.
It also didn t take long before the situation provoked a strong reaction. We are now going to show you , unedited, what happened. Click on the video to see what happened.

Yes, I am very pleased with this vet’s action. He did the right thing; and if I were the government or whoever looking to prosecute him; I would think long and hard before I did because they have broken the law and continue to do so by allowing illegals(not necessarily the owner of the establishment)with benefits to stay in this country and not build a fence which I believe Bush signed into law.
They have also allowed these illegals to harm American citizens which probably would not have happened if they were not here.
So, just try prosecuting this vet.
UNM Student 'Livid' Over Wrong Flag (tore down Mexican flag)
UNM will not tolerate acts of racism or xenophobia
Peter R. Lynch is a new FReeper and you can go to his home page, check the forum for his posts on this matter.
He is a Vet, and a FReeper to be proud of.
The following link is to a thread on this subject that is still active.
He was shaking mad and he was outnumbered. He just wanted to get it done and get gone without having to really go to the wall, even if he thought he could come out on top.
The Mexicans knew damn good and well what they were doing, they aren't stupid. Their bleating about "not knowing it was against the law" is just a ridiculous excuse. They were spitting on America and Americans on purpose, and this is just the first time they came up against some principled resistance. If they're from California they think all the Americans are terrified little wimps who'll take any amount of crap from them, because that's what happens here in limp wrist land.
Over 21 place - ATF should raid!
Over 21 place - ATF should raid! Owner said he was U.S. citizen but didn’t know it was wrong to place Mex flag on top. Right!

Nevada Gaming Control Board Requires English Speaking Attendants
The Nevada Gaming Control Board now requires casinos and other gambling facilities that possess gambling licenses in Nevada to have an English speaking attendant on their gambling floors.
The gaming board instructs casinos that offer 5 or more slot machines to have an attendant that knows how to communicate in English.
Las Vegas is seeing a surge of Hispanic population from Mexican communities and California. Hence, English speaking players are supposedly experiencing a communication problem at smaller establishments.
The move to require an English attendant at the casino gambling premises met opposition from the American Civil Liberties Union, which claimed that the gaming board decision might taint its relationship to Spanish speaking people.
According to the gaming board, the communication problem in Las Vegas casinos may not be as bad as the problem in online casinos where the customer service support group is sometimes staffed by people who use broken English.
Nonetheless, the move was influenced by an incident in Cantina El Jaripeo, a small Reno bar that offers slot machines but does not have any English speaking attendants. Subsequently, the gaming board required the bar to ensure that from now on an English speaking attendant should be present in the slot gaming area at all times.
Grams, you go tit wrong. EVERYBODY knows ATF only raids on suspicion of the presence of children.
O RLY!
Now it makes sense - the owner raised the Mexican flag in defiance of the ruling.
Grams, you go tit wrong.,,,Sorry Top,,had to step in..
CWII ping.
Read the comments until you find what a local man did about the situation.
I do uphold its principles. The First Amendment means that the United States government, the states, and even cities, may not pass laws limiting your right to speech. It also doesn't limit someone's response to your exercise of your speech. The owner exercised his right of free speech, the vet exercised his right of free speech. I think that the restaurant owner is more than compensated for the five bucks in loses he might have suffered through exposure of his business, so I'll call that a wash.
But you can not play the game; you can not force the First Amendments limitations on others; it is exclusively upon government that it places its restrictions. I have no requirement to grant you the freedom of speech, nor do you have immunity of action through the exercise of freedom of speech.
Now, as for your assertion that a law was broken, the Vet, under Nevada common law, had the right to punch the owner of the establishment out. The restaurant owner created an atmosphere of conflict, which is outright forbidden by Nevada liquor laws. But by 'issuing fighting words' through either 'actions, words or symbols' then no, sorry, he sought conflict, he gained conflict, end of conversation.
And if the bar owner doesn't wisely lay low and lick his wounds, I'll be sure to write the Reno County beverage control board to point out the violation, and he can go plead to them that it was not an atmosphere of conflict that he created.
I don’t think it is illegal, any more than it is “illegal” to dispose of the flag in an unproved way. The law is for government agencies, iirc, and carries no civil or criminal penalty.
That said, I think it is really tacky and bad and wrong and if I saw something like that, I would do what I have done in the past, which is to ask for the manager, and point out his error. I have never not gotten a good response and a “thanks” for the education.
Ah, another one who is a 3/3 in Typo!
Certain things catch my eye,,
Well then, according to your rules, the Jena 6 should have a license to kill people associated with the “white tree”.
After all, you have to be careful what you express.
Thanks - that worked.
Taking down the flags is vandalism.
