Will Ron Paul run as a Libertarian?
9-28-07 | DesScorp

I have a question for all you Ron Paul fans; since he has run as a Libertarian in the past, when he doesn't win the GOP nomination, will he run as a Libertarian (or an independant)? Will he try to play a Ross Perot-Ralph Nader?

You people that supposedly know this man, sound off.

I think the GOP should demand that he runs as a Libertarian right now! He is an embarrassment to the debates.

Mr. 2% will only run as an independent if he can find a campaign lawyer who will agree that his campaign, separate from the Republican nomination campaign, as an Libertarian, could also get paid $280,000 a year; the salary of the office he is seeking which presidential candidates are permitted to be paid by the campaign.

What? Did I hear a jaw drop? Do you think this crowd of dwarfs comes out every campaign season because they think they can win? Nope, it’s so they can pocket quite a bit of money themselves. Start your campaign before January 21st, and heck, you can get two years of salary as the man in the big office gets... (in addition to an inflated congressional paycheck.)

LBJ had to get the law changed in Texas just for him.
He ran for VP and Senator on the main ballot.

Will Ron Paul try this ploy?

I am counting on him running as a 3rd party candidate. With the moderation which has occurred overnight with the Democrat candidates regarding military withdrawal (surrender) from Iraq, Paul, with his current stance, would draw more Democrat votes then Republican.

He should run as an independent. Good thought on pulling a reverse Perot BTW.

You are probably correct but there are still some republicans who are ignorant enough who still think he is conservative and will vote for him thus putting Hitlerey
in the White House.

L Ron Paul is in need of a DSM IV check out.

the libs will nominate him whether he seeks it or not. He will still win the primary’s as a republican. The CP’s might nominate him as well making the ballot look like this:

Ron Paul - R
Ron Paul - L
Ron Paul - CP
Hillary Clinton - D(emon)
Al Gore - G (lobal warming nutcase for the Green Party)

Just my opinion here.

Oh wait I forgot to add.

Gulliannei will leave the Republican party when Ron Paul wins and run as an independent.

So adding to the ballot:

Rudi Gullianei - I

Mr. 2 percent? I thought that he official line was he was “Mr 1 percent.” Since he is now at 4 percent in the Gallup poll, I’m glad to see that the official line is starting to come a bit closer to reality.

I’m not a “Paulite” but I’ll tell you what I’d vote for him anyday as a Libertarian over Guiliani, Romney and the like..

If he does, he would be a traitor and would help the election of Democrats.

That’s the ballot:

Ron Paul - R
Ron Paul - L
Ron Paul - CP
Hillary Clinton - D(emon)
Al Gore - G (lobal warming nutcase for the Green Party)
Rudi Gullianei - I(’m a liberal)

Of course the demon wins. We have no hope and will have to be happy with our new thighness or face death.

If you really want to guarantee Hillary a victory (do you?), nominate a pro-war Republican candidate. As in 2006, it will virtually guarantee a Republican loss. On the other hand, if you want the GOP to win, Paul is the best best He’s the only candidate who can reverse the continuing erosion of the GOP base.

Usually, the most popular third-party presidential candidate takes votes from the candidate of the party who has the presidency. In 2000, when a Democrat was president, Ralph Nader, of the Green Party, got 3% of the vote, and helped Bush win, with almost 48%. In 1992, when a Republican, George H.W. Bush ran for re-election, many Republicans voted for Perot and helped Clinton win, with 43%. In 1976, when then-President Ford ran, many conservativs voted for Maddox, of the American Indpendent Party and MacBride, a Libertarian, helping Carter win with 49.95%. In 1968, when the president was a Democrat, Johnson, many Democrats voted for George Wallce, helping Nixon win with about 45%. I hope that next year, all voters who are anti-Democrat will unite and vote for the Republican.

Not enough people know how close the 1976 election was. The last time that a Democrat presidential candidate received a majority of the popular vote was 1964, but Republicans did it five times since then, in 1972, 1980, 1984, 1988, and 2004.

L Ron Paul or any democrat will be a victory for the IslamOfascist and the spread for their terror period.

Your assertion would explain why so many Congresscritters are running on the GOP side. Now that the Rodents are in charge of Congress, GOP Congresscritters can’t get their earmarks. So they run for President to compensate for the loss of Congressional privileges.

“As in 2006, it will virtually guarantee a Republican loss.”

The war wasn’t the big reason GOP lost in 2006....the constant stream of scandals was.
