In a world of international terrorist plots on America and our interests, any VP has a possibility of coming to the Presidency in a tough situation.

This needs to be considered as the 2008 election proceeds. If a candidate is selected because (s)he adds “balance” to the ticket, (s)he may not be the right person for the job.

And as to the potential presidents, none of them should be completely anti-war. There may be a lot of resitance to GOING to war, but every President should be prepared in the face of the unknown to lead this country as Commander in Chief in a time of war.

Keyes was under control mostly this time. He stunk in the value voters debate.

It should have been called the “First Vice-Presidetial Candidate Debate.”

Well 2nd actually, remember the Values Voters debate?

A waste of time if any of them think they’ll be chosen for the VP slot. I’m not sure any would bring a single thing to the ticket.... Look for an outsider [non candidate] like Cheney to emerge as the next VP.

Hunter, Tancredo, and Keyes did the least pandering. Therefore, I thought they performed best. Hunter raised his stock as a possible VP candidate.

Well, we know one thing. Ron Paul has probably tied up the stoner and drug addicted pubbie vote.

No one is impressed.

Look, if everything was equal I would support Hunter. That is not the way the world works. I found that out after I shook Barry Goldwater's hand, and assured him that he would carry New York State.

However winning an election trumps conservatism. You doubt it check out people like Arlin Spector and John McCain !!!

Exactly! That is the prevailing attitude among Republicans. To heck with core conservative principles. We are willing to sacrifice those values and abandon conservatives by replacing it with more Socialistic values just so long as we win! The result is we have essentially a one party system. Conservatives in the GOP will only be able to have their values represented by leaving the party and uniting with the large number of unaffiliated Conservatives.

I havent paid much attention to Duncan Hunter before now, but his stock is up in my eyes.

I wouldnt mind seeing him as a VP.

Funny thing..I know a bunch of die hard dems who want to vote for Tom Tancredo because of his stance on border security.

I thought it was much better than having 10 guys up there. And the other 4 would add nothing of substance to the debate, frankly. They never do.

My respect for those who didn’t come increased. It demonstrated their good judgment, especially after listening to the questions. I also thought it was in poor taste to have the empty podiums and the nasty preamble to the debate castigating those who didn’t come. Hell, the Dems refused to appear on Fox for a debate sponsored by the Black Caucus.
