Questions of health surround Julia Carson (D-Indiana 7th)

Aides and colleagues regularly cast votes on Rep. Julia Carson’s (D-Ind.) behalf, raising questions about the congresswoman’s deteriorating health.

Carson is 69 years old and her health has visibly declined in the last several years. She uses a wheelchair to move about the Capitol and requires the assistance of one or two aides while on the House floor. Several lawmakers said her mind is sharp, but she tires easily.

“On those rare days when I think I need a little help, I feel so blessed that there are 434 other members of the House who are willing to lend a hand when I cast my vote,” Carson said in a statement. “It is, however, my vote.”

She told The Indianapolis Star last month that she intends to run for reelection in 2008.

I can't believe she is arrogant and self-centered enough to even think she in representing Indianapolis properly. Indy has not had anything even close to proper representation since Andy Jacobs was in the former 10th District. I hope Eric Dickerson gives it another try in 2008.

I wish her the best health, but she was never sharp to begin with.

That’s where I disagree. I saw her on live TV last fall and she had a meltdown. She lost her train of thought and started rambling about a little girl that was in her lap eating her food.

She was asked a question during a forum about nuclear energy for electricity production and she rambled on about how she was against the atomic bomb and the Iraq war.

She’s as goofy as they come, no matter her ideology. Just a goofball.

This corrupt family has enough in reserve.
Now another grandson is running for City Council.
God help us.

I thought the house rules were changed to stop this process! Did the DHIMMIKRATZ reinstate it? It's an abomination!.................

She was never sharp to begin with.

Compared to Barbara Boxer, Cynthia McKinney and much of the enemedia, Carson is very sharp. On the other hand, so is my wife's pet guinea pig.

No - totally different Eric Dickerson. Indianapolis had enough of THAT Eric Dickerson the first time around.

This Eric Dickerson is a former Marine, and he owns a successful Buick dealership in Indy. A fine man.

I do not live in Indps. but living just outside of it I am well aware of the politics.

I was real impressed with Eric Dickerson and disappointed he did not win.

I see so many people complaining about Indps. major, Bart Peterson but he will get re-elected along with Julia. I think these voters are the same type that voted Nagin back in office, all idiots.

How she even got elected was beyond me. I cannot figure it out. I don’t think she even campaigned.

We are not all idiots. But you can almost draw circles around the densely populated areas of idiots on a map of Indianapolis. The conservative side of the city is definitely the south and west sides.

It was 52% to 48% if I recall. About 10,000 total votes in a very Blue year.

South, West, and far Northeast.

Though though Mayor Bart Peterson’s real estate development company The Precedent, he is encouraging good Republicans to move out of Marion County.

This ACTUALLY made it into the PUBLIC??

Our local TV has refused to even show a pic of her since her Election Night acceptance speech fiasco!
