Chris Peden; The Time is Now.

I regretfully won’t be able to vote for the gentleman who I endeavor to endorse with this entry. However, his inclusion, and by definition, his opponent’s exclusion, from the next US Congress will make America a better, more sanely governed nation. I hereby endorse Mayor Pro Tem of Friendswood, Tx, Chris Peden in his bid to unseat The Honorable Ron Paul as Congressman for the 14th District of The Great State of Texas.

My disdain for the supporters of Ron Paul’s campaign for the 2008 GOP Nomination stands undiluted and virulent. They have grown deracinated from the traditions of civil discourse and public decency. They demean the virtues of our society and cheapen the gravity of the GOP primary process. They have morphed into a sarcoma on the party and need to be condignly removed.

This, alone, does not make Chris Pedan, or any other primary opponent of Ron Paul, a valid alternative. We not only need to dispose of Ron Paul, we need to improve the quality of our party’s current delegation. Replacing Ron Paul with another Congressman Doolittle would hurt the party’s chances in 2008; not enhance them. It is not enough to be able to bury Ron Paul; I take care of that odious chore here. I also hope we can praise the individual who follows him into Congress.

Thus it serves Chris Pedan well to offer his views and political philosophy to the public. In doing so, he has convinced me that he deserves the opportunity to play the leadership game in a professional, major league stadium. Here are some examples of why I believe Chris Pedan would be a worthy champion of Conservatives and a fitting replacement for Congressman Paul.

In a victory for personal property rights, I voted to limit the city’s power of eminent domain to traditional uses and not for purely economic development reasons; in Texas a family’s home is their castle and it deserves to be protected from government bureaucrats.

Unlike the city of New London, Ct., or Mayor Jerry Brown of Oakland, Pedan sought to govern the city he lived in; not own it. This distinction has become badly blurred in the minds of many Congressmen. It will be blessed relief to have a Congressman from Houston who governs for the people, rather than earmarking for the shrimp-fishing industry.

I fought LULAC and the rising tide of liberalism and led the movement to get the question of making English the official language of the City of Friendswood on the ballot. I believe English is the glue that holds this great country together and it’s the language of hope, opportunity, and progress.

This is a vital reason why a Conservative is a better representative of the people than a Libertarian. Victor Davis Hanson once opined that one of three things was required to have a great nation; a common culture, a common heritage or a common language. In a nation that defines itself as a melting-pot for all the world’s cutures, option number three is the only alternative still viable. Conservatives get this; Libertarians do not. The obvious choice is Chris Pedan.

I am a proven conservative Republican; the incumbent is a Libertarian. I support winning the Global War on Terror; the incumbent has voted against the war. I think Islamo-Fascist terrorists were responsible for the 9/11 attacks; my opponent thinks America's Middle East policy's were responsible for the attacks.

In a nation that can’t quite figure out why Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran shouldn’t be lecturing the students and faculty of one of our most prestigious universities, this lack of moral ambiguity is a breath of fresh air. Pedan may not have a great wealth of experience on foreign policy, but he goes into it with open eyes. He applies a sense of right and wrong; not of nuance.

In conclusion, my irritation with the risible actions of both Ron Paul and his demented clique of overzealous supports would not, in and of itself, justify an endorsement of Chris Pedan for Congress. Pedan has earned that by his own beliefs and actions as a member of local government. I proudly commend to you Chris Pedan for Congress, 14th District, Texas.

I stumbled on a Ron Paul video posted on YouTube by a supporter. Regarding foreign policy, Paul said we should get out of Korea because if we weren’t there, the country would be unified by now.

The man has no brain.

Mr. Klock has very nice credentials especially in the military intelligence field but in the TX-22 district.

I just want to help Peden to oust Ron Paul.
I can’t stand the man for some reason.

I have to support my Republican candidates in Illinois. We are becoming a endangered species here.
