In an ammendment to the Defense Appropriation Bill the Senate requests that the Iranian Republican Guard be declared a terrorist organization. The text of the request in S.Amdt. 3017 that passed 76-22 (2 not voting) is as follows:
" (5) that the United States should designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps as a foreign terrorist organization under section 219 of the Immigration and Nationality Act and place the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps on the list of Specially Designated Global Terrorists, as established under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act and initiated under Executive Order 13224;"
The entire text of the ammendment is at the link.
Nope, even though I slip on my Mental Hazmat Suit when I go over there the amount of hatred and foulness I read there is enough to ruin your lunch. I got the impression that they think Bush wants to go to war because he likes it, not because it is necessary to do so.

Are Hagel and Lugar out of their minds? The GOP had better run somebody good against Webb in Virginia the next time around. He is a disgrace. And Boxer the Dwarf? Biden?????
‘Paul’
thanks, I thought I saw that yesterday or earlier this week.
See reply 22.
This may NOT be a good thing. How can we declare Iran’s actions an act of war if it’s only a “terrorist group” that is in Iraq ?
Is this not a democrat sponsored bill to thwart a reason Bush might use to advance against Iran?
It would put the Iranians on the same footing as the Taliban, and tend to make Iran subject to the Authorization For Use Of Military Force in Response to the 9/11 Attacks :
That the President is authorized to use all necessary and appropriate force against those nations, organizations, or persons he determines planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, or harbored such organizations or persons, in order to prevent any future acts of international terrorism against the United States by such nations, organizations or persons. The timing of it, along with other stuff happening, indicates that D-Day is approaching quickly
What’s really funny is that when this first came up, my junior senator, James Webb, made an “impassioned” plea against it, arguing against Iran as “terrorists” and claiming this would allow Bush to launch a war on Iran.
All the left-wing blog sites in Virginia were praising him for stopping this terrible bill, and talking about how proud they were of him.
Then it turns out he didn’t stop it at all, and it passed easily. His speech, however “passionate”, was ineffective.
I haven’t seen any of them comment further about him.
Webb gets lots of praise for all the things he tries to do, but he never seems to accomplish anything.
I think post #28 answers you question better than I can.
‘Jim Webb resigned as under secretary of the Navy today. I don’t think anybody at Navy will miss him....’

That's my thinking too.
