Michaels resigns as state climatologist

U.Va. Prof. Patrick Michaels steps down from position after controversy about global warming policies

After years of receiving heat for his controversial theories about global warming, University Environmental Science Prof. Patrick Michaels has officially resigned as the Virginia state climatologist, a position to which he was appointed in 1980.

Controversy arose in 2006 about the validity of Michaels' position, when Gov. Tim Kaine's office claimed Michaels did not hold a governor-appointed position and said his views did not represent those of the Commonwealth. At that time, state officials said no evidence could be found that a governor had appointed a climatologist since 1980 and that the ability to appoint the climatologist shifted to the University in 2000. Michaels continually asserted that humans do not play a large role in global warming, claiming that nature is more to blame for the trend. The controversy was augmented by reports that Michaels' had received funds from a coal-burning utility.

Ironically, global warmers claim oil companies are repressing the truth and scientist are scared to support global warming. Sometimes I wonder what planet global warmers live on. I have never seen so much propaganda and so much blackballing and censorship from opposing opinions as goes on in the global warming debate.

That's because the debate isn't about global warming; it's about global socialism and socialists (ie. communists) are ruthless power mad trogladytes.

“Mr Wentworth just told me to come in here and say that there was trouble at the mill, that’s all - I didn’t expect a kind of Spanish Inquisition.”

Tie an anchor around his leg and throw him in a lake ... if he’s guilty, he’ll float.

Why does Virginia need a public-paid climatologist?

Zieman added that Michaels -- who he described as "a member ... of a small group of people that are called skeptics" -- has not resigned as a research professor at the University.

He meant a large number of people.

I'm not surprised that he stepped down. Either the Governor or the University was responsible for the position and neither of them wanted him there because they couldn't handle the truth.

Tie an anchor around his leg and throw him in a lake ... if the lake has gone dry, it's Global Warming.

This sickens me, but until the “few” fight back like there is no tomorrow the global redistributers, robbers of wealth will win. There needs to be a assault on the fiction that is global warming or climate change at least to the point they are honest about what it really is. It one thing for us to read the research and see what baloney it is but it is the people who should be fighting back that needs to FORCE the issue.

“NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our chief weapon is surprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency.... Our *three* weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope.... Our *four*...no... *Amongst* our weapons.... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as fear, surprise.... I'll come in again.”

IMPOSSIBLE! Science is objective and scientists are the most open of all people to differing thought. I’ve been assured of this many times by people in science. And if you don’t believe this, then you should be restricted from propagating your nonsense.

“The controversy was augmented by reports that Michaels’ had received funds from a coal-burning utility.”

But no one cares that global warming hysteric Richard Hansen of NASA receives $700K from George Soros’ group the Open Society Institute under the program “Politicisation of Science”.

My guess is that Michaels got $8000 for some study or other he did for them. It wasn't a gratuity. These guys ought to go look at where all the supposed shills for the oil industry live. I doubt very many of them have chalets or chauffeurs.

As a scientist it pi$$es me off that the RAT party discredits any researcher that is not supported by one of their “approved” sources, yet see no problem in one of their golden boys getting nearly a guarter mil. from an America hating megalomaniac. What matters is the quality of the data, not the source of the funding.
