Abortion Centers in 80 Cities in 33 States to be Prayerfully Picketed for 40 Days Starting Tomorrow

WASHINGTON, DC, September 25, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - "Today, people of faith and conscience from more than 80 cities in 33 states are kicking off the largest simultaneous pro-life mobilization in American history - the groundbreaking 40 Days for Life campaign," said David Bereit, national campaign director for 40 Days for Life.

40 Days for Life is an intensive pro-life campaign that focuses on 40 days of prayer and fasting, peaceful vigil at abortion facilities, and grassroots educational outreach. The 40-day time frame is drawn from examples throughout Biblical history where God brought about world-changing transformation in 40-day periods.

"The 40 Days phenomenon is unique because during this time period, pro-lifers nationwide will join together to pray, fast and work to bring about an end to the tragedy of abortion," said Bereit. "The fruits of the campaign are already becoming evident and we are eager to see what transformations God will bring about in this nation over the next 40 days," said Bereit.

Campaign participants have already seen a great victory in Aurora, Illinois, as a federal judge ruled just last week that a brand new $7.5 million Planned Parenthood abortion facility must keep its doors closed pending an investigation into allegedly deceptive means the abortion giant used to obtain city permits.

"Across the nation, 40 Days for Life has generated proven lifesaving results in every city where it has been conducted," said Bereit. "The Aurora victory is just one example of how faithful pro-lifers have pulled together in this campaign. In previous campaign years, College Station, Texas experienced a 28 percent drop in local abortion numbers; Houston saw an abortion facility shut down after more than 20 years of operation; Green Bay activated more than 700 new volunteers into local pro-life efforts; and Dallas brought 89 churches together in an historic display of unity.

"40 Days for Life is a campaign about faith, and this faithfulness is truly preparing this country for the beginning of the end of abortion," said Bereit.

Thank you for your prayers. Everybody: try to give an hour this week - it does not require very much - and you will also see how the clinics target minority women. They are total eyesores! When the community realizes how they are being treated like garbage by these clinics, they get angry!

Boy, you’re good! Fasting can also mean giving up something that you like for a while (like talk radio).

Good luck to everybody who participates. I also hope that word gets out in New York State about what a pro abortion radical Governor Eliot Spitzer is. That is, in addition to his being emotionally unstable. He is seeking to get rid of any and all restrictions on late term abortions. His health department has turned down funding for abstinence education, yes, turned down funding! He and his cronies just want to promote and encourage abortion on demand. They are shameless.
