I’d prefer the title ‘U.S. Marine” instead of ‘jarhead’ myself.
...but realize that was how it appeared in the original.

I had him in a headlock and pulled him to the ground, Nolan said. He dug his fingernail into me. I took the gun and whopped him on the top of his head ... He went a little limp.Yeah, I'll bet he did! WTG, Marine!!!

When I was in (mid 60's) we'd refer to ourselves as Jugheads, or "Juggies" for short....altho I don't think that affectation was anything like Corps-wide.

He said he fought the man with one arm,
A good Marine only needs one arm to subdue most people.
I took the gun and whopped him on the top of his head ... He went a little limp.
LOL! You go Marine!

Actually, Jarhead is one of those terms that depend on how and by whom it is used....
So long as the tone of voice and inflection is not one of being insulting or challenging... Jarhead is perfectly okay...

No such thing as an ex Marine! :-)

Although as a Navy man my opinion of the USMC is... well, you know... I have to admit that in this case one of the seagoing bellhop squad actually did something right for a change. See, I knew that all my begging to keep the Old Man from dumping them over the side in mid-ocean would pay off someday!
(Seriously: Right on, Morine. Good job.)

I was watching the Ken Burns documentary, “War” on Sunday night and they were interviewing a man who was a Marine during WWII. He said the recrutier told him, why would you want to join the Navy? Only people whose parents aren’t married join the Navy. LOL. Sounds like the rivalry has been on for quite some time...

"...I took the gun and whopped him on the top of his head ... He went a little limp. Wyatt Earp found that technique saved him from the necessity of shooting the SOB. Longer barrel = harder whopping. I believe it's a law of physics.
Janice, who was herself armed, called police...
God I love Texas... ;-)
