No, it should never have been flying, ever, at all. Good for him. Is this written in the law, do any of you lawyers know??
The University wont tolerate that kind of behavior, President David Schmidly said.
FU Snidely!
In America, you win by waging a campaign on three fronts -- the courts, the press, and the streets. You do have to pull together like-minded and motivated individuals to form the mob. The lawyers love the press. The courts usually don't. But shining a light on the sneaks in the courts and government will get you a win faster than you will ever get through the capricious justice system. It really sucks after paying all the taxes to public servants you have to go do the work these servants won't do.
Personally, I’ve had enough.
Thank you , Peter Lynch for you service to our country.....Then And Now!
"The students forgot and left it hanging all weekend, McKinsey said," and the ROTC students forgot to raise the flags on Monday as well?
He clearly misses the point of his very own words!
Right On!
“The Mexican flag should never have been flying in the first place.”
To he!! with this diversity cr@p. If someone wants to fly a mexican flag at his home that’s one thing. To put it on a public building is outrageous.
When will they start teaching in U.S. schools and universities the truth about Mexico, namely that it is a failed state whose form of government is inferior to our own and ought to be changed, a long line of dictatorships that noone should be proud of?
Thanks. Seems to me that this is “protected speech,” just like burning the American flag.
Well stated, but I doubt El Presidente will take much action on this at all....
Muchas Gracias
Thank you for posting that info Dave.
Welcome to FR, Peter. I’m livid that the law breakers at UNM are trying to make a criminal out of you while excusing their own actions.
Shame on any member of the ROTC who would FORGET their flag duty for any reason, and especially under those circumstances. But, in light of the ethnic background of some of those bent on making a criminal out of you,I’m just a tad curious to know if the ROTC students who were in charge of the American flag that weekend share a common background.
If any student on that campus has earned the right to rectify the flag situation there, I’d say you certainly qualify. I’d also say that you showed remarkable restraint in waiting as long as you did to react to the insult to your country and fellow patriotic citizens. God bless you.

Just for the irony of it - this from Governor Bill Richardson’s webpage:

Actually, on this particular issue, Bingaman might be a better hope that Domenici.
Pete is an amnesty guy; Bingaman has been taking a more sensible, cautious approach on immigration related matters; (Maybe not for the same reasons as folks like us,, but he HAS been voting 'right' on this kind of stuff).....
Plus Bingaman's staff is more responsive than Domenici's has been for the last few years. You have to attach a BIG check to even get a reply from Pete's staff... (Even if he is an old friend of the family from the old days and you have been a long time financial supporter of his like I am WAS.)
Go for the ‘If I Did It’ defense. Works every time, and you’ll make a mint on the book...
I think the Mexican flag should have never been allowed to be flown at UNM to begin with. There are plenty of Mexican flags in Mexico and if anyone that is currently here misses them- they need to return to Mexico ASAP. The miscommunication about when the US flags were to be put up is really not important to me- there just should NOT have been a flag of another country flying.
