It doesn't matter to them that if they were Iranians he would have them all making like ripe fruit (hanging from trees). What does matter is that he hates America. And they agree with him on that.
It's their most important and only non-negotiable point.

What a conundrum for them - here's a guy they desperately want to embrace, yet who hates Jews with a passion (a no-no with all the ultra-liberal Jews in this country) and denies that there's any gays in Iran (another no-no, since gays are exalted by liberals.)
I wouldn't be surprised if their heads were to explode.
