'Not a single Christian' in birthplace of Christ
WorldNetDaily.com ^ | September 24, 2007

The once vibrant Christian communities of Bethlehem and Nazareth, with roots in the "land of Jesus" going back to first century Israel, are rapidly declining in the face of a systematic campaign of persecution conducted by the same Muslim terrorists intent on driving the Jews into the sea.

Beatings, sham legal proceedings, property seizures, dismissal and replacement of elected Christian leaders, accusations of selling property to Jews and intimidation by gunmen with links to the government of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas have so reduced Christian populations in the cities of Jesus' birth and boyhood one community leader predicts all Christians will be gone within 15 years.

In "Schmoozing with Terrorists: From Hollywood to the Holy Land Jihadists Reveal their Global Plans – to a Jew!" author and WND Jerusalem bureau chief Aaron Klein chronicles his meetings and interviews with leaders of terror groups and Islamist organizations long accused of intimidation and violence against Mideast Christians.

'No more Christians in Bethlehem'

For part of one chapter, Klein travels to Bethlehem to meet with the city's Christians and with its terrorist leaders.

Bethlehem consisted of upwards of 80 percent Christians when Israel was founded in 1948, but since the Palestinian Authority took over in 1995 the Christian population has declined to about 23 percent with a large majority of Muslims. The 23 percent Christian statistic is considered generous since it includes the satellite towns of Beit Sahour and Beit Jala. Some estimates place Bethlehem's actual Christian population as low as 12 percent, with hundreds of Christians emigrating per year.

At least it is good to know the other threads that you also post. Great learning experience.

The Christian religion is not confined to a piece of ground or place on a map.

Agreed. But what is being told about in this article is persecution and oppression of Christians. We should be pressuring our government to speak out about that (at the very least).

Give it time, maybe then you can experience the joy in having the Palesimians torch your sacred shrines as well.

And then try and build a mosque on top of the ruins in ‘honor’ of the former, torched ruin.

Grr.

Death’s too good for ‘em.

Bit of politics background here.

For reasons unknown to me, the Christians (who are generally Arab, which may be part of the issue) of the area over the years tended to align themselves with the Muslims politically against Israel proper.

There were various reasons for this: social and historical -— and also cowardance and/or idiocy.

Anyway, the Christians let the muzlims in — or flee -— and then things spiral down rapidly.

The same thing occurred/is occurring in Lebanon.

Know this, if that comes to that, truly then we are in the begining of the end of the age. It would suprise me since one of the signs of this is the greater attacks on Christians.

Not suprising since the Arab Christians, and this is the big MISTAKE they have made, thinking that if they side with the Muslims, against Isreal, but in the end, they pay a BIG PRICE for this alliance.

From my post #18; The thing that bothers me about this happening in Israel, is that the United States government could pressure Israel to take back these areas if the United States government cared about Christians in the Holy Land

The US Government is not concerned about protecting the lives of Christians, even if it is in a country that we can successfully pressure to do something about it.

sorry I personally know a christian woman who lived on my street. She was told by Jesus to move to Israel. She is selling her house, and has already moved there.

I think she is in great danger and fear for her, but she is putting her faith on the line.

We need as Christians to start scream religious persecution to the ACLU and anyone who wants to take our faith away. Otherwise we have lost it to ourselves.

True, but they would be if enough people get vocal about it. (Elected officials like to keep their jobs.)

even if it is in a country that we can successfully pressure to do something about it.

If we can make our elected officials interested enough, they may not be able to force the other nation to do what we want, but they can at least make it less comfortable for them not to.

God Bless that sister in the Lord for her courage. These times are truly dark and dangerous. This should remind all Christians worldwide that we are ALL targeted by the Muslims. We must all pray.

Makes one understand the Crusades better, which were originally intended just to free the shrines taken by force first by the Muslims.

"...The Christian religion is not confined to a piece of ground or place on a map. A pilgrimage back to a point of origin is not required of any of us to be saved..."

That's true, and there's no doubt, but I gotta hunch we're still gonna go in and remove the islime stink from those places.

It's just the right thing to do ....................... FRegards

What you and I regard as slime, vermin and scum of the Earth, are the Poster Children of the United Nations who need protection from the evil Israelis and colonialist United States. We don't have the government to do what is right in this situation.
