It is worth noting that the decision to post American forces in Saudi Arabia, the birthplace of Islam, was the catalyst for bin Laden's murderous journey.

Nah, it wasn't. That was just one of many cause du jour employed by OBL and his ilk to justify their terrorist lifestyle, which is as seductive to them as that of the habitual criminal or the sexual deviant.

For such people, there is a meta-pleasure in living outside the law and outside of social norms, thumbing their noses at conventional social hierarchies, and enjoying a fatal notoriety which nevertheless offers them more attention, deference, and benefits than they would ever achieve with a "normal" life.

But inevitably (or even quickly) the deviant, the murderer, the terrorist, and the criminal must and will frame his crimes and unrestrained passions (for sex or death or money) in terms of the hero or the savior pitted against the "XXXXX society" (fill inthe blank as needed, e.g., "repressive society or "infidel society" or whatever).

So here is OBL ranked somewhere the inexhaustible list of deviants and criminals and their self-styled heroism and their fictitious allegiance to social betterment. Charlie Manson was going to solve racial and social problems (while enjoying sex and drugs parties); Ted Kazcinski was a ecological warrior (while murdering and maiming innocents); Fidel Castro launched a people's revolution (and lives in just as much luxury as his predecessor Batista, see his interview with Oliver Stone); Jim Jones preached his Socialist and separatist message of "justice" (while feasting on sex, pills, and Pol Pot-like control of his followers).

Were it not for his unrepentant amorality and his murderous temperament (which as noted is no different than Charlie Manson's or Jim Jones'), OBL would be a second rate lackey at the bin Laden Construction Company, designing Islamic footbaths for childrens' schools.

But like all the worst criminals of human history, OBL has learned that if you couch your penchants for murder, mayhem, notoriety, and money within an ever-changing pastiche of social reforms, you will stand a better chance of satisfying your demonic bloodlust and material and bodily passions to the applause and not the horror of a gullible and thus useful coterie of followers, supporters, and protectors.

It goes without saying that OBL has followed the lessons of one the great terror manuals of all times and its sociopath author, Mohammad's Koran.

Wow! This is big. It will spread the seed of doubt among the masses of Islam and allow the common law abiding citizen to rat on OBL without fear of reproach by his peers. Of course, Salman al-Oadah now needs to find where Salman Rushdie is hiding and hide there with him.

I’m almost afraid to be too optimistic but, might this be the first chink in Bin Ladens’ armor could this be the beginning of the Muslim world coming to it’s senses. Have they collectively had enough.

"How many innocent children, elderly people, and women have been killed in the name of Al Qaeda?"

The cleric would probably not have a problem with innocents being killed in the US. We can thank this change of attitude to tha fact that we are in Iraq and Afghanistan, on offense. This is the best justification I have seen for our continued presence there.

Why do you mention the 6th? I’ve forgotten the significance of that day. (Am I in trouble now? - LOL)

“Ried and Pelosi are going to be deeply saddened.”

They’re in quite a spot aren’t they?

They could continue to criticize a strategy that is producing positive results, making them look worse each week.
Or..they would have to admit they were wrong and Bush was right (shudder!)

If they were smart, and they wound up winning the white house, they jump on board and could even manage to try and take credit for their fantastic foresight.

If they win in ‘08 and undo then proceed to undo everything that has been accomplished, they will only be there for 4 years.

I agree. Another tactic would be to shut up for a few weeks, then start to praise what is taking place, not giving Bush any credit. After a period of time they could morph that to them being on the right side after all. Their earlier criticisms were made because of their deep concern for our troops safety.

well, we need to give a big FREEPING to all outlets and ask them why they are so quick and excited about airing OBL’s tapes - over and over, but won’t show this bell weather tape - which could be the first shot across the bow to reign in Al Queda...by the people who need to ride point.

This could turn the tide. If one such man is strong enough to stand and be counted, and gets heard, I suspicion many will follow...and in the safety of numbers, it can be the tipping of the tide - to mix metaphores. Wars are not won on the battlefield alone.

What say you? FREEP?

(Or do we leave this man hanging out there on his own where, when Al Q sees no support, no media coverage,,,the next time he’s in the news it will the report of his death.) Who has the media contacts?
