(CBS) JOLIET, Ill. CBS 2 Political Editor Mike Flannery has filed a complaint after he was shoved and sent down a flight of stairs while questioning a congressman Friday, knocking him into a woman who also fell.
The incident happened in Joliet, where Rep. Jerry Weller (R-Ill.) was announcing his intention not to run for reelection.
Flannery was pushed by a Weller aide right before he followed Weller into a stairway. The initial contact occurred off-camera. In the video posted on cbs2chicago.com, you can see Flannery stumbing into the view of the camera after being pushed. He is then shoved a second time once inside the doorway, which caused a woman inside the stairwell to fall.
The man who shoved Flannery and CLTV political reporter Carlos Hernandez-Gomez was identified as John Dusik, an aide to the congressman.
"There's a large man, who begins shoving reporters around, including yours truly. He shoves me one way, then he goes after another reporter with CLTV.
There's an opening in the doorway, and I begin moving through that doorway, and he shoves me down the stairs; he shoves me into a railing on the staircase and also into a woman in on the staircase who was traveling with Weller," Flannery said.

Correction: "CBS 2 Political Editor Mike Flannery has filed a complaint after he says he was shoved and sent down a flight of stairs."
Or, if you want to get technical, "after he alleges."
Hardly. After looking at the video, one has to wonder why more reporters aren't thrown down stairs. The way these hounds follow people around, cramming through doorways, crowding the objects of their pursuits on stair landings, they create a danger for people who want nothing to do with them. I see it as a case of self preservation. To add insult to injury, the the reporter gets to air his view on PUBLIC airwaves without any redress from their victims. It's outrageous. He cetainly did not look injured. He looked every bit the liberal stabbing the opposition in the back.
“He has answered three questions, and that is enough,”
Said his flack. “Don’t give yourself airs!
Do you think we can listen all day to such stuff?
Be off, or I’ll kick you down stairs.
Good points.
I wonder if Weller’s office has issued a statement on the incident?
Its Weller's fault. If it was me, I would have 2 Rottweilers on a 5 foot leash. Then lets see who crowds who!
I might have shoved him down the stairs, punched him out and then stuck his head in a toilet bowl and given him a swirlie.
“There’s a large man, who begins shoving reporters around,
I wonder if Flannery questions anyone in the dimwit party?
Two objects (people) trying to occupy (go thru) the same space at the same time. I forget what that it’s called but I know it’s not possible:’)
"It is not true that I was fired for throwing my boss down a flight of stairs. I was fired for picking him up and throwing him down the second flight of stairs."
His confession was confirmed by others who worked with him!!!
All I can say is that’s a crazed and dangerous situation created by the REPORTERS themselves, all those reporters jostling to chase the Rep. down the stairwell — the reporters themselves were jeopardizing each other. As to who did any serious shoving, the video does not show it....
Very good.
He could call up bob filner from san digayo.. and get some pointers from him..
