Right before Giuliani took his "impromptu" call during the NRA speech, he was discussing the second amendment. However, when discussing the second amendment's language, he mistakenly began to paraphrase the fourth amendment instead! Then he answered the phone and changed the subject. Here's the transcript, followed by the video:
"After all the second amendment is a freedom every bit as important as the other freedoms in the first ten amendments. Just think of the language of it -- 'the people shall be secure' --let's see, this is my wife calling..."
(talks to and about his wife)
(then he resumes with a subject change) "...but the parking decision offers an excellent example..."

Giuliani forgetting the second amendment in his big NRA speech is a giant SNAFU. In the media attention over the call itself, let's see if this part of the story gets any mention.
1. How many guns do you own?
2. Name them (make and caliber).
3. When was the last time you fired each one and why?
Rudy NRA speech ping
Just watched the video and I would say it is more than possible you are right.
Notice that he the phone was set to ring and not vibrate?
Yes. The NRA.
This phone call was so stupid but I couldn't figure out the reason for it. It all makes perfect sense now. OMG, what an idiot Rudy is.
I believe that the telephone call received by Rudy was NOT a call from his wife. His speech is being monitored very closely by his aides whose responsibility is to call Rudy in a second and by doing so are able to keep him from making a bigger fool than he is already.
Using his wife as the one who is calling is just a scam.
Just my opinion.
I can just imagine the leaked anti-Constitutional quotes that would emerge from a Giuliani presidency. Something to the effect of, “It’s not worth the ink used to write it!”
The 2d Amendment is all about the citizen's right to be armed in order to: (A) shoot operatives of any oppressive government, if and when that becomes necessary, most efficiently, but not necessarily, by becoming a member of an armed militia, to which each brings personal weapons. And (B) the right to bear arms to protect oneself.
Ducks, deer, and other game, whikle tasty, are simply collateral damage. Speaking of which, the 4th Amendment is in just as much, if not more trouble than the 2d!
The more I look at Rudy/Mitt/John/Fred the more I wonder if we won’t see a brokered convention.
I don’t get into name-calling candidates. Rudy seems to be a decent (politically) man who cares about his country, but also has a slightly inflated ego. He is running on popularity now, but Thompson is giving him a run for his money in that category. His liberal positions on gun control, immigration, and abortion make his high ranking in the polls somewhat puzzling, but Republicans seem to be more focused on security than social and other issues right now and some also buy into the premise that only he can beat Hillary.
Fred Thompson has a nice voice, but seems lethargic and confused on the issues. Sometime he can come up with a good sound bite. He has great supporters, but I’m not sure how long they will be able to tolerate covering for his missteps.
Mitt Romney is right on the issues, has energy and good communication skills but has taken the most hits (flip-flopper) of any of the candidates, and has been too defensive of his family. He is now promoting himself as the agent of change in the Republican party. He is smarter and more energetic than Thompson and takes the most conservative stance on the issues so he seems like the best fit for the Republicans. The question people seem to have is if he will turn liberal on abortion or other issues once he gets in office.
Mike Huckabee seems like a nice guy, socially conservative, good communicator and debator. I’m not quite sure why he hasn’t been able to generate the enthusiasm the other candidates have, probably some intangible factor.
McCain is right on the Iraq issue, but is not a good communicator. The problems in his campaign also suggest he is not a good administrator.
The third quarter money primary will go a long way to determining the race. Whoever wins that will be in the best position to come out with the nomination.
Shhhhhh! Don’t tell Hannity but Rudy’s a putz! ;-) ;-)
You’re welcome!
Hey ellery, HotAir picked it up:
Video: Rudy confuses the Second Amendment with the Fourth in front of the NRA;
Update: Or does he?

Agree.........:o)
Sad ain’t it ~
Hope yer well, Stay safe ~
I’ll go on record now ......and say Hillary won’t be the nominee from the DNC side. Obama or Edwards have better potential as the Clintonistas made big mistakes with their extreme left leaning base They will be consumed from within their own party in the next few months IMO.
Hold me too that with a told ya so if I’m wrong Keven....;o)
Stay safe ~
There is a poster on the Sunday morning talk show thread who said this is the THIRD time Rudy has done this phone call bit. First time was Oklahoma, second Florida, third the NRA speech.
Thanks for posting this.
Can we trust our gun rights to this “Half-Right”?
I wouldn’t trust Rudy to flush my toilet.
I wonder if Rudy will get a cell call right in the middle of the announcement that he has lost the presidential nomination?
