A Tacoma man who falsely claimed he was a decorated war hero when he took the stage at demonstrations held in opposition to the U.S.'s role in Iraq was sentenced this morning to five months in prison in U.S. District Court in Seattle.

I think you’re referring to the current lefty favorite.
That guy is an actual soldier who served in Iraq, but his story has been thoroughly discredited.
His girlfriend got him published in “The Nation”, but they never revealed the connection until the US Army descredited the guy. He may be prosecuted under the UCMJ.

OK, so they weren’t in Iraq, but they looked like Iraqis, as far as Dog targets are concerned, and he almost hit them, which is about the same, and they were all lined up in a row on the rifle range, so they looked like they were praying and after he hit them the coaches started hollering at him for shooting other targets, so it was under stress, man, give him a break...what’s the big deal.....;^)

For somebody to impersonate a soldier is deplorable. I know that a lot of people would think that we’re more “civilized” now, but this guy ought to be locked in the stocks in the village square so the kids can pelt him with poop and rotten veggies for a week. Or a public flogging would do!
