I hesitate to say I'm on any wagon these days. My personal favorite is Hunter, and he has all the traction of a greased pole.

I do sense the Republican electorate desperate for a conservative that can rally it. He isn't Rudy who has peaked in his popularity.

Today he looks like Thompson. I think he has the credentials. If he can build a Reagan kind of optimism into his message, which sounds pro-America up 'til now, he will fly by nthe field of both parties like the rest are nailed to the ground.

Anyone who believes that Hillary could be trailing Fred Thompson by only 5% in Kentucky must be smoking some weird stuff. President Bush carried KY over Kerry by over 14%.

I’ll say. And it’s the next door neighbor to Fred’s home state, to boot.

Like it was in ‘06, OH could be the key battleground state. Unfortunately, the state has been trending leftward. Bush beat Kerry in ‘04 by a smaller margin than he beat Gore by in 2000. The state turned blue in the ‘06 elections. Why? Scandals in the state-level GOP, an unpopular Governor, overhang of the Iraq war, job losses in manufacturing and other outsourcing/offshoring concerns. The ‘Rats skillfully exploited those and parlayed them into a resounding win in ‘06. The state sent packing a moderate/conservative Senator and elected a rabid moonbat in his place. The “true conservative” candidate for governor got slaughtered by over 20 points (so don’t let anyone tell you that “true conservatives didn’t lose” in ‘06). Bottom line: it’s going to be a tough one to hold onto in ‘08. Any kind of momentum built up by the ‘Rat nominee is going to be awfully hard to counter.

This is great news. Last time I saw Survey USA (I think it was them), no Republican led in any state they did-—including KY and OH. Very good news indeed.

I understand your feelings, but you have to realize this is GREAT news: she was leading in every single poll recently, including KY (!!), OH, and tied in WI. So even while this is a slightly “redder” group of states, it’s still great news.

And worse for us, Gov. Strickland has NOT screwed up yet (in any serious way). I'd figured he would have driven our unemployment up to about 10% by now.

Still, I think this poll is great news. Rudy has trailed Hillary in the last 2-3 rounds of polling, and Fred hasn't even been close.

I don't like seeing Hillary at 47% in Ohio. Hopefully, the GOP is at its low point and they build from here.

I'm not sure I am convinced of that though. This looks like it is going to be one tough race.

It will be that. If we lose OH, we're pretty much done for. I don't know where we can go for another 20 electoral votes. I'd say we're in an uphill battle right now. VA also looks wobbly. If we lose both VA and OH, our goose is really, really cooked.
