Police are trying to figure out who hung at least four nooses at Andrews High School in High Point.
High Point -- School leaders found and removed four nooses at Andrews High School in High Point Friday morning.
Police and school leaders are looking for a fifth noose.
Police don't know if it's connected to the Jena 6 incident in Louisiana. They think it could also be a prank from Asheboro High School. Andrews and Asheboro face off Friday night in football.
Police are interviewing Andrews football players, students and faculty to try and develop leads.
Students will be making signs, saying they won't tolerate this type of behavior.
The school system is sending letters home with students. They're also activating their connect-ed system to send a voice message to parents' homes explaining what happened.
Just keeping Jesse and Al movin....
This is getting ridiculous...but that’s the point of today’s media...to spread paranoia, doom and gloom.
Our high school used to “hang” the opposing team’s mascot before a big football game.
oh my god, don’t look now, but another high school is holding a “copycat” pep rally! lol
Before the thread jumps the tracks, keep in mind a lot of these “hate crimes” come from an unlikely source.
Just a thought.
Well then, their problem (if there really is one) is solved.
“Students will be making signs, saying they won’t tolerate this type of behavior.”
Of their own volition?
Have they been so impregnated that this is their feeble response...to make a sign.
Ooooo...ouch.
I used to think that movie with Sly Stallone and the delicious Sandra Bullock where the cops ran around saying stuff like “murder death kill” and you were fined for swearing [Demolition Man??] was just silly. But the more I read about how people are too afraid of their shadows over every single thing, I don’t know.
Guess thats where we are heading.
Anyone could have predicted that there would now be copycats.
If people still paid attention to the old adage, “Sticks and stones...”, these types of pranks would cease to annoy,
and the pranksters would stop doing them.
Instead, we’ll have more hand-wringing about how racism permeates every facet of life and how the sky is about to fall...
It is a copycat. It is unclear of the motive, whether it is racism, crying wolf, or a rival team’s taunt.
As if John Edwards didn’t already make this state look stupid enough...
Stupid thing to do, sure. But all this media attention and hubbub about a rope in a tree.
It seems to me that some kids out there are probably thinking, "if we tie this hear rope in that there tree, CNN will be down here with their cameras hahahahaha"
Have to wonder if there is any “reverse psychological training” going on here.
While talking about an unrelated story, Michael Savage brought up that there are some individuals who’s kleptomanic episodes are triggered by signs in stores that say “no shoplifting”. “Don’t think it! Don’t think it!”
The power of suggestion.
There was a violence problem at Andrews a couple of years ago. Lots of fights and suspensions, things have calmed down in the past year or so, now this.
Yeah. Andrews, Southern or Northeast would have been my first guesses.
“What the heck is illegal about leaving a rope in a tree. It’s not like they left someone in the rope. I just don’t see how this is a “hate crime”.
Andrews is 70% black.
Did you hear Southern changed their mascot from an Indian to “Storm”? There was a letter to the editor last year from a supposed relocated Katrina refugee living in the area about how “insensitive” the new name was.
I thought Southern were the Cowboys.
Did you see who is playing football in Greensboro this weekend? Do you remember the last time those two teams met?
Cowboys, indians, 220 whatever it takes.
I haven’t paid attention to high school ball this year. Who is playing?
220,221
Can a candlelight vigil be far behind? Perhaps we can rally the community to "take back the night!"
More a comment on compassion fascist PC than anything specific to Andrews. Hope it all fades away without further incident soon.
Rock on, Rb!
