I just saw this!
Someone said this should be run as a full-page ad in the NYT, and I think that would be perfect!
God Bless the Jeffers family and hold them in Your loving arms in their time of sorrow.
Thank you, Sgt Jeffers, you are a hero. Always.
Prayers for his family that they may find comfort in the Lord.
He was a brave Soldier and his writing Hope Rides Alone is very true.
God bless this fallen hero.
Thank you for sharing that.
I will keep the Jeffers family in my prayers. He was a hero to my family and me, as well. He is receiving a hero’s welcome in Heaven and is now in the Presence of the King of kings!
What a beautiful message from the Jeffers family, even in their grief, they seek to glorify Christ. I am greatly humbled by this. God be with them.
Shelayne, that's exactly the way I felt after getting over the shock from the news of Eddie's death. Even with the profound grief he must be feeling, Dave Jeffers sought to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and I know that Eddie is with him in Heaven. The Jeffers family is the best, I feel their grief though and am so sad about this. I've been praying for Eddie, the Jeffers family, Eddie's wife, Stephanie and our service people everyday. I'll continue to do so until my dying day.
Thanks for the ping back; I just ran through the rest of the thread, and found out about Fisher House.
Thanks, rochester_veteran, for the link; looks as if I’ve found another good cause I can add to my list.
America.
agreed.
Prayers lifted for his family.
Lord God, We pray for SGT Jeffers loved ones that You strengthen them in the knowledge that their child’s death was necessary and the cause was just. May the price he paid help purchase a safer future for our beloved America.
Rest in peace, soldier.
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Prayers for his family.
I forwarded his article with the Picture of the folded flag in an email so that people will hear this story who don’t post on Free Republic.
If all Freepers forwarded it around we could help the public gain access because we know the media will not cover this unless they can make the military look bad while doing it.
Sgt. Eddie Jeffers was killed in Iraq, Sept. 19, 2007
Please help me out and post a few words to the Forum, in support of Eddie and what he (and we) stand for. You do need to sign up for an account, but it's free.
Thanks in advance my fellow Freepers! You're the best!!!
Aauughh! The Demagogue and Comical! Hated that cage-liner then, and it hasn’t improved one whit!
Thanks; will stop by and help add to the probably only clean spot on the sheet.
The ones who should feel guilty about this brave man’s death are those that sent him there and kept him there.
They went there by choice. They serve there by choice. They serve selflessly to protect you and me.
They volunteered to be there so we might defeat the evil, which, if left unchecked will engulf us.
Seems that you could use a dose of perspective.
Last I heard the US Army is a volunteer force.
I hope you enjoy your day...courtesy of the people you apparently take for granted.
LOL!!! It was actually in the D&C Forum where I first read "Hope Rides Alone". Another Forum user who posts as a12iggymom started a discussion on the essay and some lefties jumped all over it. Much to their surprise, both Eddie and his Dad, Dave, joined in on the discussion. That's how I got to know them. I wish the D&C still had that discussion up online, but they delete stuff after a certain time.
Are you originally from the Rachacha area? Although the city itself is pretty liberal, the suburbs have a large conservative base.
When a soldier comes home, he finds it hard....
...to listen to his son whine about being bored.
....to keep a straight face when people complain about potholes.
...to be tolerant of people who complain about the hassle of getting ready for work.
...to be understanding when a co-worker complains about a bad night's sleep.
....to be silent when people pray to God for a new car.
...to control his panic when his wife tells him he needs to drive slower.
..to be compassionate when a businessman expresses a fear of flying.
...to keep from laughing when anxious parents say they're afraid to send their kids off to summer camp.
...to keep from ridiculing someone who complains about hot weather.
...to control his frustration when a colleague gripes about his coffee being cold.
...to remain calm when his daughter complains about having to walk the dog.
...to be civil to people who complain about their jobs.
...to just walk away when someone says they only get two weeks of vacation a year.
...to be happy for a friend's new hot tub.
...to be forgiving when someone says how hard it is to have a new baby in the house.
....not to punch a wall when someone says we should pull out immediately
The only thing harder than being a Soldier...
Is loving one.
Thanks for that, freema.
Oh my! Very powerful and moving , freema..God Be With Them
