Dobson first expressed doubts about Thompson several months ago, to the effect that he doesn’t think he’s really a Christian. I’m not sure how he’s gauged that, unless he’s expecting it to manifest itself through works, but everyone expresses their faith differently. Thompson might not be a Christian in the fundamentalist sense, and so some claim that means he isn’t really a Christian.

So are you assuming Dobson has no integrity? Or are you assuming all Christians have no integrity?

My guess is that you are wrong, and that you are making an accusation you would need to apologise for later, in the case of Dr. James Dobson. There are still some men of integrity. There are quite a few issues on which I would disagree with Dr. Dobson, and I could never work with him, but this man’s motivations do not reflect political ambition. I believe he is devoted to Christ, and I don’t believe he would endorse or not endorse any man for a donation to Focus on the Family. I will defend this man unless there is irreproachable evidence of being on the take. He is not on the take.

I believe it when it is said that he is speaking as a private individual and not for Focus on the Family organization. He does have the progative to do that, and the IRS evidently has believed him in a previous question along this line.

No, James Dobson is a man of unquestioned integrity. He simply doesn’t believe that Thompson is a social conservative and he is tired of supporting Republicans who take our votes and then stab us in the back. You can blast James Dobson all you want but why should social conservatives support someone who won’t even take a strong stand against Terri Schievo’s murder. It is becoming clear that Thompson is no social conservative and thus we won’t support him.
