Health Care: Those who hold up Canada's nationalized system as a model for the U.S. have another piece of evidence that maybe it's not: Those who are sick and have a choice go to the U.S. for their care.
The most recent example of this trend is Belinda Stronach, a Liberal Party member of Canada's Parliament and daughter of Canadian billionaire industrialist Frank Stronach.
Stronach, a close friend of Bill and Hillary Clinton, came to California last June for a cancer operation. Her spokesman, Greg MacEachern, told the Toronto Star that she made the decision to go to the U.S. because it was the "best place" for her type of surgery not that she lacked any confidence in Canada's health care.

Kinda reminds me of the Democrats who refuse to send their children to public school. No doubt when we have socialized medicine they will make a little space in the law allowing private medical care for themselves.
Slight correction: for a cancer operation and breast reconstruction. No photos yet of her new profile.
I hope she beats the big C and brings joy to someone with her surgical renovations.
She’s another useful idiot but I hope she recovers fully
Well they are hypocrites, so you ca’t expect anything different
Slight correction:
Belinda had one of her later-stage operations in California, after referral from her personal physicians in Toronto. Prior to this, Belinda had surgery and treatment in Toronto, and continues to receive follow-up treatment there,” said Greg MacEachern, Stronach’s assistant and spokesperson.
Maybe if she went to California (or Cleveland) in the first place she wouldn't have needed "later-stage operations."
Mark Steyn is great on this. This AM he described an entire hospital, in northern NY state about a 100 miles south of the Canadian border, dedicated totally to Canadians--takes Canadian money and everything. Read it and weep.
She went to the US likely because that type of care was not available in Canada or that going through the system would have required months of waiting for tests and treatment. However she should have gone to that medical paradise, Cuba ..look at how well they have kept Castro going.
A full recovery to the lady sure. But that doesn't mean we can't call socialized medicine what it is - a nightmare. And it is not wrong to acknowledge a fact. That this woman is one of the privileged that doesn't have to suffer in the system she expects others to use.

America doesn’t have the best health care system. It has the best health care money can buy.
Heavens. Someone actually gets it.
Haven't you ever been to California?
Everybody gets it in California.
LOL.
