The family of 56-year-old Emily Delafield said it would take the Green Cove Springs Police Department to court.

If she was so harmless, why did they call the police? Why didn’t they just disarm her? You don’t need the police to do that.

Police said the woman was swinging the weapons at family members and police.

So they were supposed to shoot her, or what???

On her death certificate, the medical examiner ruled Delafield's death a homicide.

That's not going to make it easy for the PD to prevail in this case.

Too many officers are falling into the “when the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail” problem with regard to Tasers. It’s some LEOs’ Magic Bullet solution to nearly every difficult arrest.

I agree with the police. They didn't use guns to disarm her and she was a threat to the safety of others. The officers' actions were righteous. I think this smacks of a shakedown.

Wow-this looks like a script for Reno 911.

You don’t need to taser a woman in a wheelchair that isn’t carrying a firearm ten times. Someone has an itchy trigger finger, it seems.

They could have grabbed her arms from behind on a backswing and disarmed her.

The police in this country really need to be reined in. There’s just too many stories like this coming to the forefront.

It’s going to come down to every patrolman will have a cameraman as a partner. Cheaper in the long run.

Call cops because a family member is threatening you with deadly weapons. Cops subdue perp. Perp dies. Family members will sue the police. Only in America.

Sounds like the female police officer used aggressive force. The male officer had it right. I hope he’s the one that used his taser first.

The female officer should be kicked out and jailed.

Incredible. Even policemen must understand that electric shocks may put a strain on the cardiac system. If she was in a wheelchair, why didn’t they just stay out of her way?

There’s no reason she should have been shocked 10 times. Absolutely not

Add to that she was wheelchair bound. Once would have been enough.

Seems to me that a baton is still a very useful thing to carry for such situations. I don’t think cops use them as often now that they carry tasers.
