Websites run by militant Islamists have listed the names of over 100 Swedish companies as possible targets in the ongoing row surrounding the publication in Swedish newspapers of a caricature of the Muslim prophet Muhammad.
Detailing the addresses, maps and logos of Swedish businesses, the websites called for their readers to boycott these firms and "take revenge" on Sweden for the publication of a controversial cartoon by artist Las Vilks.
SAS, H&M, Alfa Laval, TV 4 and Arla were among the companies listed, according to SVT news programme Rapport, which based its report on a study carried out by the Washington-based SITE Institute (the Search for International Terror Entities).
But Scandinavian dairy company Arla, whose goods were boycotted in the Middle East following Denmark's recent caricature row, said it was not aware of any new threats.
"We have not received any indications of a threat," said Tobias Wåhlén, spokesman for Arla Sweden.
H&M on the other hand said it had been kept up to date with developments.
"We received information about it during the afternoon and need to discuss it internally first," said spokeswoman Andrea Roos.
Lars Vilks took part on Tuesday evening in a seminar in Stockholm organized by the Council of Ex-Muslims of Sweden and the Swedish Humanist Association.
Vilks reminded his audience that the drawing had been meant as a provocation. The art and culture communities in Sweden repeatedly criticize the United States and Israel, he said, whereas Muslim countries are rarely even questioned. The caricature of Muhammad as a 'roundabout dog' was his way of "testing the limits" of art.
"I suppose one could say that from that perspective I have been entirely successful," said Vilks.

- This is true. Once upon a time artists, writers and intellectuals where AHEAD of their time. In large parts of the Western World, this is no longer the case.
Economically and technologically, Western Civilization of today flourishes, but, to a large extent, it is also in a state of cultural, moral, intellectual and political decay.
The solution?
- The courage and inspiration to aim even higher than The West has ever done before in its adventurous and magnificent history.
To some it might sound somewhat corny to speak of a new Renaissance and a new Enlightenment. To me, such a vision is all about the basic will to survive. What today’s PC cultural elite glorify and promote is the antithesis of survival and the antithesis of Western Civilization.
Have to get hold of that list to see if any of their products are sold in the USA so we can buy them.
Alway appreciate your posts, WesternCulture. Thanks. BTTT!
That's it! No more Swedish Meatballs!
“Have to get hold of that list to see if any of their products are sold in the USA so we can buy them.”
- That’s, of course, a good idea.
As a Scandinavian, I’d say the increased sales of Danish products on the US market in connection to the recent Danish Muhammad cartoons controversy made some Scandinavian Socialists and Liberalists realize that the citizens of The US is NOT our enemies but believe in the same basic values and ideas that we Scandinavians do.
By the way, I’m using an American product this very moment (- a Dell. So far I’m very satisfied, had it for 3 years now).
Some Swedish companies:

However, when it comes to brands, most of these companies have lots of them. For instance Electrolux has over 30 different brands;

Thanks and keep on FReeping!
I bet they buy a lot from Ikea. Especially from their stone and sheep skin lines.
I just told my wife. She will be more than happy to spend even more of my paycheck at H&M this month than last.
If they really hate Sweden they should get off Swedish welfare, stop getting Swedish benefits and free housing, and get their sorry head-chopping asses the hell out of Sweden and go back to the hell-hole that they came from.
I’m debating whether I should order one of those rugs from IKEA. My puppy isn’t trained yet.

- Be glad the Muzzies aren’t targeting Gucci :-)
- Totally agree.
Why has Europe welcomed millions of people who have no interest of welcoming European values in their everyday life?
A lot of European Muslims are very secularized and believe in democracy and freedom, but evidently many European Muslims do not. What are they doing in our part of the world?
It’s easier to understand how a maniac like Hitler could take over a glorious nation like Germany than to figure out what goes on in the heads of today’s politicians.
“Im debating whether I should order one of those rugs from IKEA. My puppy isnt trained yet.”
- :-) If you can’t find one at IKEA, perhaps you could steal one from a Muslim? But beware, this is probably considered a worse crime than any form of brutal and sadistic murder according to ROP tradition.
It's a tough job, but someone's gotta do it!
