Took the words right out of my mouth. The DeYoung is truly an ugly building....inside and out. And replaced a lovely building. It is used only for parties of the chi-chi wealthy. SFDad and I call it “The Clubhouse”. And you can take all the new skyscrapers meant for pied-a-terre types who have no stake in the local issues, too.

I understand perfectly what you are saying. I was a liberal and worked at a liberal non-profit at the time of 9/11, here in Poughkeepsie—several dozen local people had died in the attacks, including the mayor’s husband. A couple of days after 9/11 one of my co-workers brought in a NY Times which had pictures of George Bush and Osama bin Laden on the front page. Guess which picture had devil horns and a pitchfork drawn on it? That’s right, Pres. Bush’s picture. It hit me like a ton of bricks—they really believe that Pres Bush is the evil one! It felt like a mugging and I became a conservative that day, and never looked back with anything but scorn and contempt.
