Janet Reno CD in stores now

Published: Sept. 18, 2007 at 8:20 PM

KENDALL, Fla., Sept. 18 (UPI) -- A three-CD album of historical songs from former U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno debuted Tuesday.

"Song of America," a 50-tune "history book'" that Reno helped shepherd, is in stores now, the Miami Herald has reported.

Reno is listed as an executive producer on the collection, which starts in 1492 with "Lakota Dream Song" and spans 25 eras of U.S. history, concluding with "Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning," a song about the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.

Reno said it all began when she heard her niece's musician husband, Ed Pettersen, play two history-inspired songs he had written.

"I was sitting there doing some work,'" Reno recalled. "And then I found I was listening to him and this song -- I couldn't figure out what it was about. When he told me, it came alive.'"

Pettersen said Reno immediately started suggesting eras of U.S. history that should be documented through music.

Unable to find any other comprehensive history told through folk songs, Petterson and Reno set out to compile their own.

"It's the good, the bad and the ugly," Reno said. "To omit Dixie or the Streets of Philadelphia is to omit a part of what has made America."

Didn’t Will Ferrell host the Janet Reno Dance Party on Saturday Night Live?

I thought Pete Seeger and the Stalin Groupies Commies Weavers had an album.

***BRINGING THIS BACK FROM THE ARCHIVES***

MIDI - THEY CALL THE WIND MARIAH — http://www.wtv-zone.com/BlueAngel/Midis4.html

With Elian in Florida, Ms. Reno’s contemplating
Until she solves this Cuban thing…she must slow down on her dating

She has no time to socialize…her mind it’s occupying
Ten thousand people in the street she plans to be defying

A fire…a fire…perhaps she’ll start a fire

She had some practice years ago…in Waco it’s perfected
The story that the mainstream press has just recently detected

While Bill is waiting for the news, he’ll watch on television
Like Waco he will pull it off…the whole thing’s his decision

A fire…a fire…perhaps she’ll start a fire

She read about Tiananmen…for this she needs no pollin’
She says to Bill she just can’t wait ‘til the Bradley tanks are rollin’

She swears they will remember her…she won’t take any B.S.
She’s loading all the canisters with two initials, C.S.

A fire…a fire…perhaps she’ll start a fire
A fire…a fire…she will start a fire

You must be a lot younger than me, I thought everyone would recognize it, it is an old Ink Spots number. I saw them perform it live in Raliegh, NC in 1970 and the group was twenty years past its prime then. Google “I don’t want to set the world on fire” by the ink spots. If you like smooth sounds and great vocals you will love it.

“It’s the good, the bad and the ugly,” Reno said

Well she’s both “bad” and “ugly” so she’s got two thirds covered.
