Texas Congressman Ron Paul said in Seattle on Friday that America is approaching an economic and constitutional crisis due to growing debt, bad trade deals and assaults on personal liberty.
And even if he beat all the odds and won the presidency next year, he said, the problem would be beyond what he alone could fix.
"The time is coming. I believe that the great debate is coming," Paul told more than 400 mostly young people who attended his constitutional lecture at Seattle University.

The lecture was organized by Seattle University law students. What's the appeal of Paul to the young supporters?
"Everything," said Malisa Gurule, a third-year law student who headed the drive to get Paul on campus.
Gurule, 25, said she had never donated to a presidential candidate until she saw Paul in the Republican debates. She's also never voted in a presidential primary or been involved in a caucus, though she says she will do whatever is needed to help Paul get the GOP nomination.
"He's the only person saying something different," she said. "He's not afraid to attack the status quo."

Guilty as charged. The one and only reason that I post Ron Paul threads is I enjoy reading 40 or 50 posts about what a complete jackass the good doctor is. I also enjoy hearing from the nutters defending him.
Guilty of having an obscene camel toe.
What was your first clue, Rep Paul?
don't leave out Jackson Mississippi. I have a dear friend there who thinks RP walks on water and despises Bush. She includes an upside down flag and a quote from Paul in all her emails. He must be a very charismatic man... she literally believes he can do no wrong!
The major crisis in this country is traitorous appeasing Liberals.

There is simply no way that the Clinton’s could bribe Ron Paul. I have many issues with the man and I believe his nomination by the GOP would be an unmitigated electoral disaster but I do not believe the man could be bribed.
(shudder)
I'm not sure, but I think that the creature in the video was a male.
Unless they bribed him with Shrimp earmarks......
I agree with Ron Paul about problems with the deficit and trade.
Aren’t there some examples that show that he isn’t a pure constitutionalist though?
His use of earmarks to name one. His mixed voting record on abortion to name another.
APolling IS APauling!
Agreed...
Must dispute.
Where did Moose4 get his information?
You can stop right there and confidently leave this site and never return. This spot is reserved for conservatives. Libertarians need not apply.
What you don’t seem to understand is that taking a position on a particular issue does not need to be reserved for a particular political ideology.
For example, there are both conservatives and liberals who oppose NAFTA. There are conservatives and liberals (though fewer in number) who are against illegal immigration. These are just some examples.
Being against the current bad trade conditions with China is not reserved for Ron Paul or libertarians. Real conservatives understand how it’s also a national security issue as China’s been using it’s big surpluses to arm enemies of the US.
I’m supporting a conservative candidate for 08 and he isn’t Ron Paul.
