[history]
Reno Gazette-Journal reporter Anjeanette Damon sat down with U.S. Senate Majority leader Harry Reid to speak about the war in Iraq, as well as the issue of coal-fired power plants:
Q: You disagree with the assessment President Bush and Gen. Petraeus put forth this week. How do you think the course should be changed?
A: All you have to do is look at what they said. Nothing has changed since the surge started. Today, now we learn that 1 million Iraqis have been killed since the war started. A million. That's pretty hard to comprehend: 3,800 Americans, 30,000 wounded. More than 2,000 double amputees.
RGJ.com: Reid pulls no punches when talking war, power plants.
The estimate appears to come from the Opinion Research Business web site a British polling company who surveyed 1461 Iraqis and asked how many members had been killed in their household since 2003.
Im not an expert on statistics but this smells fishy to me. Looking at the raw numbers it looks to me like they polled more than one person per household but extrapolated the numbers as if they had only polled a single person in each household.
I would be interested in an analysis of this by someone who is expert in these things.

Dingy Harry? War is hell. Now go home and STFU.

And those advocating we get out of Iraq, from the Middle-East, are the ones who have killed nearly all of them.
Harry, do you ever stop to wonder who your fellow travelers really are? I thought not...

Today, now we learn that 1 million Iraqis have been killed since the war started. A million. That's pretty hard to comprehend: It certainly is, Harry. That's what happens when you get your "facts" from the likes of Cindy Sheehan and MoveOn.org.

Hmmm....what do you think about Harry’s claim, Kit CarsonNV?

Harry Reid claims 1,000,000 killed in Iraq since start of war. He's a liberal, thus understands that untruths are the only path to self promotion.

The MSM may not be that stupid (although I wonder sometimes) but they will push his figures as if they were true and credible. The average undereducated, uncritical citizen won’t know the difference. Joe Schmoe is usually more concerned about which team is going to win their weekly game and go on to the championships. Unfortuately we have almost gone back to the “bread and circuses” mentality that kept the Roman masses pacified.
