It was just after midnight when the 69th Squadron of Israeli F-15Is crossed the Syrian coast-line. On the ground, Syria’s formidable air defences went dead. An audacious raid on a Syrian target 50 miles from the Iraqi border was under way.[SNIP]

Ten days after the jets reached home, their mission was the focus of intense speculation this weekend amid claims that Israel believed it had destroyed a cache of nuclear materials from North Korea.

I’m trying to figure out the scenario in which nuking Israel makes any sense for Syria.

Ignoring the complete and utter flattening of Syria which would ensue there’s the whole fallout from a nuke blast not very far away from your own country.

In any case this event gives a lot of credence to the notion that the WMD migrated into Syria while we tried to get the Dems on board for doing something about them in Iraq.

Syrian nuke cache: from Iran no doubt.

Soon they’ll have to go to the source.

Again - Thanks to Israel the World is a safer place.
Their will to live is much greater than ours.

I have a theory that Syria had what Iraq was able to transfer - then everything that Iran was able to smuggle into Syria and North Korea ship to Syria. It was going to become the new baby milk factory for the new axis of evil.

Even Lybia’s dictator was not insane enough to become part of this axis of evil.

It’s time to bomb Iran and Syria. Take every military means out. There is no one more prepared or as brave as Israel, but are we going to let their people suffer the consequences?

There probably isn't any. But I can imagine there would be plenty of scenarios where not nuking Israel would make a very great deal of sense. Of course you have to have nukes in order to get an advantage out of not nuking someone.

They hate Israel and the Jews. That's the only reason Syria nuking Israel would make sense to Syria. That hatred outweighs any love they have for their own country and people.

I wonder how they managed this part? IMHO, this is the most interesting part of the story. Taking out air defenses is a painfully slow process and is a sure sign that something bigger is coming. If the Israelis have found a way of immediately disabling air defenses over a wide area, it would be an extremely valuable capability.

I’m glad to see the Israelis finally took action. If this were turned over to the UN for a diplomatic “solution”, Israel would be in big trouble.

Hopefully the lack of response from the other Islamic nations is telling Iran something about what may be happening to them real soon. I’ve read that Saudi and Egypt would not be unhappy to see the Persians neutralized.
