Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) told me that Democrats were conducting a “guerrilla campaign of character assassination” to impugn the general and that it would culminate with “a frontal attack” on his integrity. Congressman Hunter posited that based on my personal experience in a similar atmosphere, I would understand. But not even I could gauge how low the Democrats had sunk or how vicious they have become......
What happened this week to Gen. Petraeus — and less directly to Amb. Crocker — was far worse than what transpired two decades ago on Capitol Hill during the Iran-Contra hearings. When Adm. John Poindexter and I testified, we weren’t in command. By the summer of 1987 the admiral and I were simply staff officers, summoned to testify about past events. That’s entirely different from the smear that took place this week.

Your statement implies that there is some equivalence here. Please provide details to prove your statement. I can rarely remember Republicans doing so nearly as often or using personal attacks on witnesses.
And on a more significant note, I can't ever remember the Repubs being as insulting to a military officer's opinions or personal integrity.
When the Repubs try to point a difference of political belief the Dems and the press paint it as a story of the Repubs personally attacking the person in question. For the Dems, though, it is a standards method of attack.
There is no equivalence here.

But the Dems specialize in personal attacks.
Sadly, the Dems can't see any difference. If you merely disagree with a Dem it is somehow blown up into a personal attach. My observation is that it is because Dems can't stand personal criticism and take all disagreements as personal. They lack the ability to be dispassionate. Everything is personal for them; they have great difficulty in separating facts from opinions.
The result is what we witnessed this past week with General Petraeus. If he don't agree with him and they couldn't disprove his facts... attack him personally.
Perhaps I didn’t make myself clear. I think both sides use similar tactics, I dont think there is an “innocent” side here. Having said that, the Democrats/Leftists are MUCH worse than the Conservatives/Republicans. Much more. They are the ones who hold information and spring it in time to mess up an election, October Surprises are a Democrat thing. This thing against Petraus is simply unconscionable. Its lower than low. If one buys into the old addage that “There are no black and whites, only shades of gray”, then the Democrats are the darker shade of gray, much darker.
Your statement doesn’t allow for us Patriots, who love this country more than we do our own lives. We have very legitimate reasons for bashing, and exposong the clinton cabal of Anti american traitors. We do not like our national secrets being sold for campaign contributions. We do not like our missile technology being sold to our enemies. We do not like our votes being cancelled out by illegals voting for the liberals. We do not like illegals running ramlpant across our country, killing, robbing, and destroying our neighborhoods. We do not like religion removed from our schools. We do not like our national security destroyed by liberals who vote against every measure to stamp out terrorists. Our little bit of criticizing the liberals is far from what they deserve. We should be having lynching parties and trials for the traitors that they are. The clintons have done much more damage to this nation than the rosenburgs did when they gave our atomic bomb secrets to Russia. And they were electrocuted for their crimes. We are only trying to save the greatest nation the entire world has ever experienced. The clintons and their followers are trying to destroy our entire nation and make it a socialist country, with a dictator to rule us. Think again before you compare us to other blogs such as move on.org and the other America haters. We love America and those who protect it with their own lives.

Conservatives at least seek truth, regardless of their metaphysical views. One side loves the lie, the other doesn't. That is where the equivelence fails.

Eli Parasite is nominally Jewish, and so is Noah Winer (editor of MoveOn’s official bulletin). Winer’s bulletins include anti-Semitic “neocons with divided loyalties” material plus pro-Palestinian material from sources like the Electronic Intifada.
The National “Jewish” “Democratic” Council has put out anti-Semitic “Jew as Christian-hater” propaganda to damage Jewish-Evangelical relations, as well as anti-Christian hate propaganda that portrays ministers, Jesus, and the cross in a “This is the Enemy” context. (See the “Bubbie versus the GOP” video at their site.) NJDC also whitewashed MoveOn’s anti-Semitic and anti-Catholic hate speech. Anything to cover up for fellow members of the Democratic Left.
Individuals like Pariser, Winer, and NJDC’s Ira Forman are more than happy to attack or betray their own religious, ethnic, or racial group for personal political gain.
Ok, I wasn't clear. I AGREE WITH YOU. They are the ones who use the dirty tricks. I'm not naive enough to think that our side NEVER does, but I cannot remember a time when the conservatives did anything like this.
