FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. After two previous runs for U.S. president, former Reagan diplomat Alan Keyes has announced he's again seeking the White House in the 2008 election, and he'll take part in Monday night's Republican presidential debate here.
Keyes told syndicated radio host Janet Parshall he's "unmoved" by the lack of moral courage shown by the other candidates, among whom he sees no standout who articulates the "key kernel of truth that must, with courage, be presented to our people."
He added, "The one thing I've always been called to do is to raise the standard ... of our allegiance to God and His authority that has been the foundation stone of our nation's life" and he decried the lack of "forthright, clear, and clarion declaration" from the current crop of presidential contenders.
As a result, Keyes said, "We're putting together an effort that's not going to be like anything before, because it's going to be entirely based on citizen action. We're going to be challenging people to take a pledge for America's revival," and elevate them from spectators in the political arena to participants.

First of all, recall I said that he might drain some “angry” black votes.....the voters who are angry at “the man” because they “don’t want to see a black man succeed”.
Granted the Dem Party is more important to some Black Americans than Race. But, be advised my friend, there is a large segment of the Black Community that bases everything on RACE. That would be the likes of Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Louis Farrakhan and their followers. And trust me, they have a lot of followers.
Racism is alive and well in America and it is more pronounced in the Black Community than it is amongst the Whites. Now, if you believe that is nonsense, I don’t know what to tell you.
Have a nice weekend, counterpunch.
no dems
This is ego running amok.
But those angry black voters are kept in line by telling them that people like Keyes and Rice are just “house slaves” and people like the Clintons are albino Africans.
Ambassador Keyes will liven up the race considerably.
Let the excitement begin!
No Republican could have won that race.
Alan was the only Republican with the intestinal fortitude to challenge Ubama.
Voting statistics clearly show that African Americans place the national Democratic Party first and foremost in their lives — Democrat trumps race in such cases.
Mitt Romney has set up a “Ask Mitt Anything” online chat that occurs at the exact same time that the Value Voters Debate takes place. I thought that Mitt didn’t have time for the Value Voters Debate due to a schedule conflict, so what’s Mitt doing by completely ignoring the Values Voters Debate if Mitt is truly a conservative Presidential candidate? This is also the date that the GOP/YouTube Debate was originally scheduled for before being changed to a later date (November 28), so why not get the GOP YouTube Debate “out of the way” on September 17 when less of the general public will probably be watching it instead of bumping it up to November 28 when more people will probably be watching and seeing the MSM do its best to bring down all of the GOP Presidential candidates?
I don’t understand what Fred Thompson is trying to do by avoiding the Values Voters Debate. This could end up backfiring on Fred’s Presidential chances. It’s possible that all of the GOP Presidential candidates who choose to avoid the Values Voters Debate could end up being harmed in the long run by this snub. Avoiding the “most conservative” voters isn’t the smartest thing to do for any GOP Presidential candidate if they seriously and truly want to win the ‘08 Presidential race. I don’t care if they don’t like any of the people involved with the Values Voters Debate-they need to truly show the most conservative of voters that they truly are “their Presidential candidate for the ‘08 Elections”, and ignoring this debate could be interpreted as being “cowardly” towards the most conservative of voters.
point taken, however, I’ll stick with the Dick Cheney School of Parenting, thank you.
Your post is ludicrous with loose associations and allegations. It is one thing to express your displeasure with the top tier candidates shunning the Monday night debate. It's another thing entirely to twist Thompson into a socialist by association. You should know better than that by now.
Denial.
However, my support and my vote are for Duncan Hunter because of his impeccable conservative record, because he is the candidate best qualified to be CiC, and because of his unwavering stance on the border and immigration.
No amount of oratory or persuasion will sway me in the least, I'm afraid. Mr. Keyes is wasting his time.
He will rip into Guliani for his Pro-Infanticide support. That is good. There has not been enough talk about abortion in these debates.
I’ve re-upped.
Alan,
I’m honored to give you every ounce of support I can muster, because I share the principles you espouse so clearly and eloquently.
I admire and respect your steadfast courage, commitment to telling the truth, and love for our beloved country.
Let us go forward to victory, with the memory of our patriot forefathers in our minds, and the liberty, security and prosperity of our children and grandchildren always in our hearts.
May the quote from our first President George Washington that is on your homepage be our watchword, and ever describe our actions and our attitude:
“Let us raise a standard to which the wise and honest can repair. The rest is in the hands of God.”
Through the untiring prayers and labors of millions of Americans, may we see the revival of an America that reveres God, respects life, and enjoys liberty.
You and your beloved family remain in my family’s prayers every day, sir. May God bless you beyond measure in this critical fight to save this free republic.
For Life and Liberty,
EternalVigilance
