I don’t understand what Fred Thompson is trying to do by avoiding the Values Voters Debate. This could end up backfiring on Fred’s Presidential chances. It’s possible that all of the GOP Presidential candidates who choose to avoid the Values Voters Debate could end up being harmed in the long run by this snub. Avoiding the “most conservative” voters isn’t the smartest thing to do for any GOP Presidential candidate if they seriously and truly want to win the ‘08 Presidential race. I don’t care if they don’t like any of the people involved with the Values Voters Debate-they need to truly show the most conservative of voters that they truly are “their Presidential candidate for the ‘08 Elections”, and ignoring this debate could be interpreted as being “cowardly” towards the most conservative of voters.

It does make him suspect to the Conservative cause especially when you consider a former campaign staffer for Guiliani as of July, Christopher Wood, has suddenly switched over to Thompson as his Political Director for Thompson's New Hampshire campaign. It is common knowledge Guiliani agrees on more of the issues with Socialist Hillary Clinton than he does with Conservatives.
