PHILADELPHIA - An Amish community that lost five girls in a Pennsylvania schoolhouse shooting massacre last year has donated money to the widow of the gunman, the community said Wednesday.
The Nickel Mines Accountability Committee, which was set up to handle more than $4.3 million in donations from around the world after the shootings, said it had given an unspecified "contribution" to Marie Roberts, a mother of three.
Her husband, Charles Carl Roberts, a local milk truck driver who was not Amish, tied up and shot 10 Amish schoolgirls aged 6 to 14 in their classroom last Oct. 2, killing five of them before turning the gun on himself.

The Bible does say that we should take care of the widows and orphans. Are you a Christian? If you aren’t then I could understand if you don’t grasp just what these Amish did.

A dubious assertion, as Islamoterrorist homicide bombers often are praised by their families for their murderous acts, sent on their way with appeals for Allah’s blessing. No such familial sentiments attended the shooter of the Amish children.
Its not up to ‘we’ or ‘us’ to do anything that remotely suggests of forgiveness.....that’s up to the victims and their families. This is between the Amish community and the shooter’s family. If the Amish forgive them, that’s none of our business, except to learn by example and be duly inspired.

Having trouble with the current cultural logic
regarding deviants who murder enmasse.
IF ... we could identify a potential mass murderer by their behavioral “signals”,
THEN... all of us are candidates for lock up by the thought police.
This is a crazy notion designed to once again place
nebulous blame on someone other than the perp.
Does his failure as a husband, father and as a man indicate that somehow his family (wife and children) were responsible for it? I think not. It's called personal responsibility!
His family is not at fault. His wife was a good christian woman who had no idea he would do this. Try to have some compassion for her too.
The widow and children if this homicidal maniac were blameless. There was nothing to forgive her of. They were just as much a victim of his senseless murders as they were...........I’m sure the Amish, God bless them, felt that way, too...............

The concept of punishing the family for the
transgressions of family members is common in
some advanced Asian cultures as well as some
primitive tribal cultures where individual rights
are non existent (and is also a premise in Starship
Troopers I believe).
The nearer we associate humans with animals,
the less guilt. For we then become creatures of
instinct rather than accountabe to our Creator
God in Whose image we - unlike the animals -

Amen! However, we often assign blame through association.
The Amish example of forgiveness comes from understanding
what it means when God’s Word tells us that ALL have sinned
and fallen short of the glory of God.
I just shared this with my students (who are working on a project while I’m here). This is an extraordinary act of compassion. Students here were just stunned, probably in understanding that this is the kind of mercy that they have rarely seen in their lives. Wow.

I hope Jesus is as forgiving to you as the Amish are to this family. I’d be willing to bet that this was NOT the first time they have donated goods to this family left without a father and husband.
