Good evening, gentlemen and ladies of America. I speak to you tonight as a patriot, and believe me, I do love our country and honor the servicemen fighting in foreign theatres of war.
The plan we are currently pursuing in the theatres of Europe and the Pacific are clearly not working. The President, the generals and soldiers serving in the field may believe the mission is being accomplished, but the results show otherwise.
Our President's foolish behavior in provoking our European enemies started by his signing of the "Lend Lease" bill back in 1941. Instead of trying to negotiate with the totalitarian regimes of Europe, President Roosevelt instead chose a belligerent course of action--helping to arm the democracies of the Continent.
Of course, when we were attacked on December 7th of that year, the whole civilized world was on our side. But President Roosevelt has squandered our goodwill. Look at how many nations in Europe have fallen to the Nazis, despite our best efforts.
Who can forget that November day less than two years ago, when more than 450 American boys lost their lives in one day fighting in France? The President has never held the generals in that battle to account. Instead, he has stubbornly refused to remove our servicemen from Europe, and we continue to lose soldiers.
In February of this year, at the Kasserine Pass in Tunisia, our forces had 6,000 casualties in just ONE WEEK.
Clearly, it is time for our fighting men to come back home.
Clearly, the war is being mismanaged.
The President says we must continue the fight until victory is achieved. But he has not thought about post-war Europe and has no plan to win the peace.
It is OUTRAGEOUS to me that Democrats, in a time of war, are demanding rebuttal.
When, during WWII, arguably the last combat world-wide war we fought (WWIII being the Cold War, fought largely without combat forces) did the OPPOSITION party bitch and moan constantly about the Commander-in-Chief and his generals?
I distinctly recall Trent Lott and republicans making only the nicest and subtlest noises when Clinton took military action in Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq. Or during Carter's Iran disaster.
But democrats made pigs of themselves during every military action under republican presidents. A vile classless bunch.
“It is OUTRAGEOUS to me that Democrats, in a time of war, are demanding rebuttal.”
AMEN!!!!
Drives the point home quite well.
See post five. Re-edited version of what Democrat operative Jack Reed will say tonight in his Surrender Speech.
Sorry RD, but I don’t get the point of this posting ... did or did not Dewey make this speech?
Teddy Roosevelt would slap the Democrats around like little kids. They need a wake-up call, and quick.
Did not. It’s a parody, along the lines of, “If the GOP had taken Reid/Pelosi/Demos’ approach during WW2 ...”
What the defeatists of today would have said in World War II would include:
Why in November 1942 is FDR fighting the Germans in North Africa? After all, it was not the Germans who attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7th.
The only thing the President was doing at that time in the Pacific was to send Marines to fight in a quagmire on an island named Guadalcanal. The island is no where near Japan. Obviously, FDR was failing in his promise to bring Admiral Yammamoto to justice.
If the defeatists of today had been around in 1942, we’d never have won World War II.
If American ever wakes up to the rottenness that is at the core of this democratic party, a generation will pass before one ever sits in the White house again.
>> This thread is an insult to Thomas Dewey.
I think the poster could have done a better job making it clear, up front, that Thomas Dewey (indeed, an honorable man) never gave this speech.
However, the “what if this is how they acted in WWII” meme is VERY relevant and VERY important to consider.
Why did you contact the Admin Moderator, P-Marlowe? So he would pull the thread? I think that’s quite a bit over the top and I don’t agree at all that it needs to be “admin moderated”.
These thread fall into search engines all over the world and this could end up as a stain on the reputation of Thomas Dewey at some point in the future. This so-called speech could get picked up by someone who didn't realize it was a lousy piece of satire and the next thing you know future generations will judge Thomas Dewey to be some kind of seditious traitor.
So yes, I would like this thread pulled. It is not funny and it is not creative. It posts a picture of a fine man in a false light.
I'm pinging the Admin Moderator again. Hopefully he will see fit to pull this thread.

Unbelievably far-fetched that this post would become part of a historical revision of Thomas Dewey! I can scarcely believe I’m actually reading that.
And, no, it wasn’t funny. It wasn’t intended to be. In my humble opinion, it IS creative. I personally would like to see a whole BOOK that works on this meme of “how the fifth column lost WWII” — including the obvious ending! Maybe it should be written in German or Japanese, with English subtitles!
Yes, this attempt may be a tiny bit clumsy, but so what. This isn’t a scholarly journal, it’s an opinion site. Anyway, I’m betting the poster has learned from this. Peer moderation works.
Pulling the thread would be an asinine over-reaction. Lighten up and get over yourself.
Democrats are not to be taken seriously on any issue relevant to the future of this country. Their primary interest is in buying votes by handing out Federal money.
“They need a wake-up call, and quick.”
They need to shut up, and quick, or get the stuffing knocked out of them politically.
Below is an interesting page from Day of Deceit: The Truth About FDR and Pearl Harbor, by Robert Stinnett.
It seems Gov. Dewey, who was running against FDR in 1944, had planned to charge FDR with having advanced knowledge of the Japs' plan to attack Pearl Harbor and failing to warn the commanders there. But General Marshall talked him out of hit on the basis that going forward would warn the Japs that the naval codes they were currently using had been broken.
How about your indicating in the title that it’s a satire?
I wouldn’t trust that book as far as I could throw it.
