Archived Clinton Records May Go Public Soon

BY JOSH GERSTEIN - Staff Reporter of the Sun September 13, 2007 URL: http://www.nysun.com/article/62549

An estimated 10,000 pages of daily schedules from Senator Clinton's tenure as first lady could be made public as soon as December, though Presidents Clinton and Bush could postpone the records' release, a National Archives official said yesterday.

"Our hope is to get it done by the end of the year," the acting director of the Clinton Presidential Library, Emily Robison, told The New York Sun. She stressed that she was only referring to the review and redaction of the records by archivists. Under the Presidential Records Act and an executive order issued by Mr. Bush, Mr. Clinton's representatives then have 90 days to review the records for materials that could be covered by executive privilege. After that review is complete, Mr. Bush has an unlimited amount of time to make his own privilege assertions.

It is unclear whether the disclosure of redacted versions of Mrs. Clinton's schedules will ultimately have significance for her bid for the Democratic presidential nomination. However, it seems likely that Mr. Clinton's former aides will have control over the timing of the process just as the nominating contest reaches its peak early next year. The political atmosphere is sure to increase pressure on the former president not to be responsible for any delay.

Ms. Robison said Mrs. Clinton's schedules were given priority in processing because they have been the subject of several Freedom of Information Act requests. A conservative watchdog group, Judicial Watch, has filed suit against the National Archives to demand release of the White House schedules and phone records pertaining to Mrs. Clinton.

I don't suppose these will include the ones "archived" in Sandy Berger's pants.

Yes, the records will be released as soon as they are scrubbed clean by the Hillary campaign!

Do you mean the convicted felon and national security risk Sandy Berger who is now one of the top 3 advisors to Hillary's campaign who is not allowed to see national security documents such as a Senator might have as part of the terms of his probation?

That Sandy Berger?

One problem I see here with the “Presidential Records Act”. The records concerning Hillary could be kept secret because of her husband being President. This should be over ridden since she is running for President.

That depends on the definition of ‘soon’

Jan 10, 1993 Baked cookies with White House kitchen staff. Helped Bill prepare for cabinet meeting. What would that sweet man do if I didn't prepare his briefings ahead of time.

Jan 11, 1993 Went to mother/daughter lunch with Chelsea. Gave Bill list of attorney's to replace all those federal prosecutors he wants to fire. I am not sure if is a good idea, but he insists it is the right thing to do.

Jan 12, 1993 Met with poor homeless women. Something must be done with health care, it just breaks my heart. Interview a nice man named Craig Livingstone. Vince says he will be helpful with lots of projects.

Jan 13, 1993 Just tried to make travel arrangements, but that office is such a mess. I wonder if that nice company back home couldn't do a better job. Need to look into that.

Myprecious, HRC was not “First Lady” until January 20, 1993.

I’m sure anything incriminating was shredded long ago if not destroyed by Sandy Burglar. The only thing that escaped the Clinton’s clean-up was a semen stained blue dress.

FDR’s records are still classified.

“Yes, the records will be released as soon as they are scrubbed clean by the Hillary campaign!”

From what I heard on CSPAN, someone is slowly scrubbing them silly.

Why the H*LL are records of a First Lady redacted, other than to obscure (or rewrite) history?
