Dear Arthur (Pinch) Sulzberger,
A few months back I emailed to ask you a simple question. The subject line of that email was the dumbest question Ive ever heard in my life. I never heard back from you or anyone. In light of recent events, I decided that it deserved another try.
The other day the NY Times ran an ad paid for by the group Moveon.org. The headline read General Petraeus or General Betray Us? Leaving aside the clear assertions the ad makes, this got me thinking.
An organization with the stature and influence the NY Times has cant seriously endorse this terribly flawed ad. But then I thought of the aforementioned email I sent to you with no response. I thought, Is Arthur (Pinch) Sulzbergers silence an affirmation that the NY Times agrees with this disgraceful ad? I hope to receive an answer this time.
Its true that during the Vietnam War, your father (Punch) asked you what you (Pinch) called, the dumbest question Ive ever heard in my life. He asked, If an American soldier runs into a North Vietnamese soldier, which would you like to see get shot? You answered, I would want to see the American get shot. Its the other guys country.
Today, I think the public has a right to know whether the publisher of the largest newspaper in America, the New York Times, still feels the same way about American soldiers.
So again, I pose the same question to you albeit with a more current tone: If an American soldier runs into an Iraqi insurgent, which would you like to see get shot?
Im looking forward to your response. Have a nice day.
Sincerely,
Xxxx Xxxxxx

MoveOn.org bought this ad in The New York Times Monday. (Click to enlarge) Mr. Sulzberger is the papers Publisher.
There are reasons I don’t buy the NY Times. This ad is just one more.
The corrolary to this question would be:
“If a NY Times embedded reporter ran into an Iraqi insurgent which one would you like to see get shot?”
I know my answer...
Wrong precept. The "insurgents" are mostly foreigners in Iraq, not Iraqis. The question should be: If an American soldier runs into an foreign terrorist in Iraq, which would you like to see get shot?
I find that the new smaller size doesn’t fit my bird cage as well.
The 9/11 hijackers hit the wrong building, IMHO.
He won’t answer if you ask him if he spits or swallows, either
It is still an excellent paper for wrapping freshly caught fish.
I have not purchased a NYT since, although I have occasionally looked at it in a public library--
--judging by the stock price, maybe my boycott is beginning to work--
If a NY Times embedded reporter ran into an Iraqi insurgent which one would you like to see get shot?
I’d hope that the NYT guy was David Brooks, and that he was armed to the teeth.
Here’s a harder one: “If a NYT publisher ran into a mugger, which one would you rather see arrested and jailed?”
He doesn’t have to answer, I think that we all know where Pinch stands.
It’s hard to imagine that someone that has personally reaped so much benefit from America would despise this country so much. I think that he’s mentally ill.

I know my answer...
If Mr. “Pinch” ran into an Iraqu insurgent which one would you like to see get shot? BOTH!
How many rounds do I have?
The question I never get an answer to : Please publish a picture of the Al Qaeda uniform, so that we can be sure they are eligible for Geneva Convention rights.
I don’t read any article that is linked to the slimes. I can find any of the information I want from any other source.
That’s priceless... was it a site hack, or just a homebrew?
