tgslTakoma was up late putting Vietnam Memorial Wall (DC) Defaced Sept 7-8, 2007: PART 2 on youtube and asked that this be posted.
Part 3 will show the vandalism to the Nurses Statue and the Brothers Statue.
tgslTakoma also noticed on East Wall Panel 15E that it had multiple deep, long, vertical scratches/gouges. That will also be in Part 3

fwiw, the ONLY newspaper in the DC area to cover this DESCREATION of the VVM was THE TIMES.
haven't seen a WORD about it in the Washington COMpost.

the MSM must be all over this... right? It might be better that there is little media coverage of this. For one it denies the perps any gratification of seeing their "work" all over the news. Secondly it prevents copycats that would seek similar glorification through the news.

Will the damage to the Nurses Statue, Brothers Statue and the East Wall Panel 15E be added to this thread? Or a new thread? I just want to make sure I don’t miss that info.
Thanks!

Washing this off with a pressure washer is a futile task. Oil seeps into tiny pores and crevasses in the stone and even though it appears clean after pressure washing the oil in these pores will in time wick back up to the surface and it will look the same as before.
They should apply some type of oil cleaning bio product. These products contain enzymes that consume the oil even into the pores. Bio-enzymes are eco friendly and present no risk of damage to the stone.

SGT Booker of the National Park Service (NPS) has informed the MOPH that this was a cleaning accident by a Park Ranger and
NOT a defacement. I think these tapes and photos by tgslTakoma are inconsistent with the NPS’s information.

SGT Booker of the National Park Service (NPS) has informed the MOPH that this was a cleaning accident by a Park Ranger and NOT a defacement. I think these tapes and photos by tgslTakoma are inconsistent with the NPSs information. So a Park Ranger was cleaning, had a cleaning accident and neglected to clean it up?

Excerpt from email sent yesterday:
“...SGT Booker of the National Park Service (NPS), to check on the facts about the defacement of the Vietnam Wall last weekend. He explained it was a cleaning accident by a Park Ranger and NOT a defacement as was originally reported by the Vietnam Veterans of American (VVA). *The NPS is regarding this as an accident instead of an act of vandalism or terrorism.
*
Our National Commander Patriot Henry Cook III has the
direct phone numbers for SGT Booker of the NPS, and can
verify these facts with him directly. A copy of this
correction is also being sent the VVA for their follow up
and verification. (snip)”
From Washington Times:
NPS put out a statement also yesterday:
http://washingtontimes.com/article/20070911/METRO/109110043/1004
claiming they still didn’t know and were still investigating.
Also, NPS is misrepresenting the amount of damage. From that link, they state, “50 to 60 feet mostly on the paving stones”.
That is inconsistent and the pictures and video are inconsistent.
I don’t know.

And if that was true, why would they tell the Washington Times they didn’t know?

Heck, the Park Service isn't even willing to say it was intentional. From this link....
Mystery Substance Found at Vietnam Veterans Memorial
...Park Service spokesman Bill Line says cleaning crews worked over the weekend to remove the substance, but it's still unclear what it was. He says it's premature to speculate on whether it was intentional.
I won't print what I'm thinking....

it is the NATURE of a federal bureaucrat to DECEIVE, "shift the blame", claim ignorance of the facts & to LIE (when all else fails), just as it it the NATURE of a serpent to SLITHER!
absent INDEPENDENT PROOF, i trust NONE of them anymore.
