Yahoo also has an article on this today, calling it a "remarkable discovery". Check out this demonstration on Youtube:

I've never been called a treehugger but this looks like an amazing source of clean energy.

The RF energy put into the device EXCEEDS the heat energy obtained. There may be electrolysis going on and he’s burning the hydrogen with the oxygen liberated. However, some theorize that he’s only creating a plasma which is giving off enough heat to run a Stirling engine.
Demo Stirling engines aimed at science classrooms will run off the hear of your hand.

Yeah, join all those naysayers of Edison and the Wright brothers, et al. If it could have happened, it would have happened already. Sure.

What does having a source of clean energy have to do with being a treehugger? Treehuggers aren't principally for clean energy, they're against advanced technology or anything else that makes an industrialized society possible.

The RF energy is another word for “microwaves”. When you heat food in the microwave, the RF energy generated heat by vibrating the molecules. Salt water gets exposed to RF energy every time we cook stew.
What might be interesting is if he’s found a new way to desalinate, but just off the laws of physics, he hasn’t found a new energy source.

Does it say how much energy is being applied to gain the “effect”? You can do a lot of neat things that are net losers of energy.

Oh come on guys! Keanau Reeves did this in his apartment milling a piece of machinery. The experiment became stable and cold fusion was born.
Then evil government dudes killed the entire scientific team leaving him on the run with a love interest. Evil corporations and evil government fighting the righteous left.
Remember? Free energy? One Love Let’s get together and feel all right.....

I get it from both sides. I’m either considered credulous when I post things about stuff like SubQuantum Kinetics & electrogravitics, or a naysayer when I make fun of someone who’s burning sodium as a cool experiment.

I wonder how much the salt had to do with this? We have millions of tons of salt here in the US.

Uh, if he's found a way of freeing hydrogen (an "old" energy source) from saltwater, then he has found a new way of generating an "old" energy source.

My bad, next time I’ll do a search before posting a new article. All I want to know is, what is the frequency Kenneth?

For a good laugh (on Darwin) take a look at last week's Science News. There's a piece right at the front about recent discoveries that bacteria regularly transfer genes from their own genomes to those of a wide variety of animals (and presumably vice versa).
Poor Darwin thought critters got all their genes from Mummsy and Daddy of course. Carries "sexual selection" to a whole new level.
Once you've got a good laugh on those guys come back here and give us even more links to cold fusion projects. Or, maybe give us a link to the latest in creating double-helix forms in water molecules under pressure.
