Hunter Scolds MoveOn.org For Criticizing Top U.S. Iraq Commander

San Diego Republican Congressman Duncan Hunter attacked Democrats and a liberal group for criticizing General David Petraeus. His remarks came during testimony on Capitol Hill. Sara Sciammacco reports.

Congressman Hunter says the Iraqi forces are maturing and the U.S. is closer to a successful hand-off with the Iraqi government.

But he blasted the non-profit Moveon.org for placing an advertisement in the New York Times. It labeled General David Petraeus as General ‘BETRAY US.’ Hunter called the ad outrageous and said the soldiers serving oversees are taking note.

Hunter: They are not only watching his testimony but they are also watching our testimony. They are watching how we treat them and they are watching this Congress to see if we give credibility to what people in uniform say.

Hunter is a ranking Republican on the Armed Services committee. He has a son serving with the Marines in Iraq. Congress is using Petraeus's testimony to make decisions about funding for the war.

Typical MSM dishonest headline - this is what the media does all the time. When a conservative points out absolutely outrageous and deranged behavior by the left, the MSM will portray it as saying "oh, so we're not even allowed to 'critize' anyone"...... they make it sound like a simple free speech issue when the reality is that the the CONTENT of what the leftists said was vicious, deranged, and dishonest. It's not that they're being attacked for mere 'criticism' it's that the specific content of that criticism is so despicable, so over the top, that it's beyond the pale of decent civilize people.

OTOH, if a conservative makes a thoughtful, considered criticism of the left the MSM often goes into frenzied meltdown mode, calling it "bashing" and grossly exaggerating and distorting what was said.

These are just some of the ways that the dishonest MSM continually slants news in favor of the left and against decent, honest Americans.

RUSH was saying on his radio show today, that he SO wanted someone to stand up and say exactly what Hunter actually said.

I wish RUSH would acknowledge that HUNTER shows the kind of leadership and character that's needed to be a great President.

Some of the candidates are talk and fast and that is all they are.
Hunte has a record of authoring bills and getting them through congress.

He has been in the lead of all the candidates on the border issue and more knowledge on National Security and Military than all the candidates.
His son is also on his third tour in the war.

I am a big Hunter supporter, and I was thrilled to see him get a chance to ask questions of General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker at todays House Armed Services Cmte meeting .
However...both his questions and follow on comments were quite lackluster , very uninspiring . I was real disappointed.
In contrast , a much more junior member of the Cmte. , Rep.
Geoff Davis of Kentucky , was much more on point and even worked in some great commentary about the lack of ‘will’ in the House when it comes to WINNING the war.
I really felt like Rep. Hunter could have delivered a much more forceful and productive statement . God knows ,we have certainly given him the platform to speak from ....
