I slowly went from one end of The Wall to the other, videotaping all the way. I wanted those who have loved ones named on The Wall to know whether "their" panels were damaged. I also wanted the full extent of the damage to be documented.
This is Part 1, showing the damage to the east side of The Wall. It will take me several more hours to get the second video up.
Stay tuned...

The pressure washing was not completely successful; the oil had soaked into the stone.
Red State blogger, Robert Bluey, went to survey the damage himself today, and he reports that, according to a Park Service employee he talked to, the damaged may be permanent.

I’d say harsher words but then I’d have to say extra prayers asking God to forgive me. >:-(

Sad, very sad. I hope they find the weasels who did this. My bet is they are 60’s generation hippie democrats....

What a shame-that there are people in this country who would go this low to try to make an anti-war statement.I hope the rest of the oil comes out when they clean it again.

It is somewhere out in Oregon or Washington, I think.
Symbolism is important to me, as is tradition. When I see someone do something like this, I am reminded of the POW’s in Hanoi who painstakingly built a flag out of scraps of cloth and kept it hidden, bringing it out each day and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in front of it.
If caught, those men would almost certainly have been beaten to within an inch of their lives, but they did it anyway.
Men like them served under the flag, and many, like my father, were buried under it.
The feeling of revulsion and anger I get when I see that picture is just beyond description.
