JENA, La. - Two civil rights leaders urged Jena residents to demand equal justice, and one called for an investigation of the district attorney who is prosecuting six black teenagers charged with serious crimes in the beating of a white classmate.
The Revs. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton both said Sunday they would join thousands of people expected in Jena on Sept. 20 to protest the teens' treatment. That is the day that one of the six, Mychal Bell, is to be sentenced on an aggravated second-degree battery conviction. Bell faces up to 15 years in prison.
"After that, if we need to, we'll go to Baton Rouge and see the governor and the Legislature," Sharpton said Sunday by phone from New York.
The "Jena Six" case drew protests after five of the six teens were originally charged with attempted second-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder, carrying sentences of up to 80 years in prison. The sixth was charged in juvenile court.

I can see a similar response if some trouble-maker decided he was going to intrude on that click just to get a rise out of them.
As to the town’s discrimination, an incident previous to this attack does bring up the question. During an altercation, one white kid went to his truck and pulled out a shotgun. It was wrestled away from him and the black kid was charged with theft of a firearm, second degree robbery and disturbing the peace. The white kid, who pulled the gun, was not charged at all.
I'm not condoning what the kid did in pulling the gun, but how on earth did he let it get wrestled away from him???
Proves the old maxim - don't pull it unless you intend to use it.

Asking for what? I’d appreciate you not attributing things to me I did not say. I’m telling you how all this crap got started. It wasn’t started by some white braggart. It wasn’t started by a kid who pulled his gun at a CONVENIENCE STORE when confronted by enough black kids to take his gun away. It was NOT during the altercation at school.
It was started by trouble-maker who just HAD to stir the pot.
It’s typical you only know enough about this to incriminate whites. That’s all you probably want to know.
I read in the USA Today where the DOJ found that black students had indeed sat under the tree. The US Attorney investigating it is Donald Washington and since he is a black man I am sure he thoroughly investigated the incident. So who knows what really was going on. These were kids being kids after all. Teens aren’t known for using the best judgment. I would post links with more local information but they are all Gannet publications.

As for the white kid asking for trouble, you seem to have said that the black kid was asking for trouble by intruding on the white kids’ space. If that is asking for trouble, then the other kid bragging about the beating would seem to be the same. With the confrontation taking place at the convenience store, what does the location matter? It was still the same group of people, the confrontation just spilled over into a different venue.
The point I made regarding the altercation with the gun was about the perceived difference in justice being meted out by the DA.
And certainly not a leader!

I think the prosecutor leaves himself open to scrunity. If people check to see if some teenage white boys in this area were involved in this type of fight, were they also charged with 2nd degree murder.
Is there consistency in the charges the prosecutor brings against white and black defendents?

One can always "ask questions" but one can also make baseless accusations. One can also make baseless accusations while pretending to merely be asking questions.

You were on one of the original threads about this story, and the article at the time, as most did, reported the confrontation wherein the young man who pulled the gun did not get charged. You merely claimed that it was “evil leftist propaganda”.
There’s no point in looking up the articles for you, as you’ll just do as you are now, claiming I’m lying, claim that the articles are lying, etc. Why give you proof when you just claim it’s propaganda?
There is nothing on any FR Jena thread that I've posted to that supports this claim of yours. That's one example of unsupported claims in your above post to which I replied. There are others as well.
Nice attempt at covering for yourself. You originally replied to me not about the bragging, but about the young man with the gun who was not charged. My reply to that was concerning that information being in those original articles and threads, which it was.
