Mrs. Trooprally called me this evening to tell me that she and her husband, as well as Concretebob, saw damage along almost the entire length of the Vietnam Memorial Wall. They found this damage this morning, when they walked through the area before participating in the September 11th Freedom Walk.
Concretebob was told by a National Park Service employee that the damage was done on Friday night. There was no police report taken or written about the vandalism, apparently. And the damage was still very much there today.
Here are a few of the photos that Mrs. Trooprally took this morning...
This first one is not so noticeable, but as they walked into the center, it got worse.
It looks like the person who did this walked along The Wall with some type of container, perhaps hidden at their side so that they could squirt the oily substance without being caught in the act.
The names along the lower part of The Wall appear to have taken the brunt of the damage.
Because of the reflective nature of The Wall, Mrs. Trooprally had a tough time capturing the extent of the damage. Mr. Trooprally said that the oily substance has discolored the shiny stone, but that it has been absorbed into the more porous area where the names are etched into The Wall.
#323 still there!!
Truth reigns supreme?
Amen

You are spot on—this is exactly the kind of stuff The Black Bloc does and they brag about and revel in this type of desecration; you cannot make them ashamed of it. It would be great if some of our patriots catch them in the act; otherwise watch their disgusting websites. These cowardly punks brag about these actions to each other—perhaps we can catch them online doing so. Or they might taunt the Eagles in person bragging about it. They travel in packs, like hyenas, and this gives them false courage.
Wait, it could be Holy Oil. I once had to scrub and repaint an entire apartment that a tenant had splashed oil on the walls in some sort of "blessing" of the unit.
tgsl. Do they have surveillance cameras at that The Wall???
**
I seriously doubt that there are not cameras, especially since 9/11. I hope the cowards get caught soon.
BTW, great tagline. Tolkein was prescient, wasn’t he?
What’s in the Oil? Maybe it’s just oil. Maybe it’s a contact poison. You don’t know.
Maybe he didn’t want to destroy evidence and instead chose to preserve it.
You’re being a jerk.
Granted there are weak postulations on this thread but your's are the weakest of all. Almost a defense.
I pray that it be so, sw..that you guys have the opportunity to meet out a little “discipline” for the evil doers..
It was at night per Park police.
Thank you,
[Mrs T]
Understood.
Another nail in the “accident” theory.
This is the first I’ve heard of this. This crime affects every one of us. Disgusting. Words fail me.
My first impression, given the height of the deposits, was that maybe someone had walked their dog there and allowed / encouraged it to urinate on the monument.

Not a big deal...
Acetone or De-natured Alcohol will remove the stains...
I work with Granite and these to solvents a miracle workers... ...believe me...
The reason it was done is still reprehensible true enough, but the present blemish is fixable...
I can’t wait to vent at these moonbat bastards this weekend!
Let’s rally thousands to confront these pigs!
Bring em on! This is war!!
I’m thinking the stream from an oil can would have sufficient pressure to reach a greater height than the damage visible in the photos.
This looks like a gravity fed stream, like what might be produced if someone walked along with the tube from a Camelback hanging out of their sleeve. The up and down pattern would be consistent with a swinging arm motion produced while walking.
