Democrats make pre-emptive strike on Iraq reports (General Petraeus)
The International Herald Tribune ^ | September 9, 2007 | Brian Knowlton

Posted on 09/09/2007 5:15:59 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Leading Democrats on Sunday preemptively assailed the expected findings on Iraq due this week from the top U.S. general in Iraq as "dead, flat wrong" and said that President George W. Bush's calls for continued patience there would simply extend an "unconscionable" and "completely unacceptable" policy.

The pointed comments from the Democrats, including Senator Joseph Biden of Delaware, chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee and a presidential hopeful, and Senator Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts, seemed designed to undercut the impact of the much-awaited reports from General David Petraeus and Ryan Crocker, the U.S. ambassador in Baghdad.

"This president has no plan how to win and/or how to leave," said Biden, before whose committee Petraeus and Crocker will testify on Tuesday. He said that Bush was putting American troops "into the middle of a civil war to maintain the status quo," adding, "that is unconscionable, and he's wrong."

Petraeus and Crocker will appear first on Monday before a joint House hearing. They plan a news conference on Wednesday. They are expected to describe uneven military progress and still-unsatisfactory political progress, and to ask for more time.

Petraeus is expected to recommend sending home one of 20 combat brigades in December and perhaps a few more by midsummer, but delaying further force re-evaluations until March.

Sometime before Saturday, Bush is to announce his conclusions about the success of the eight-month-old troop increase that now has more than 160,000 U.S. troops in Iraq - and about how long they should stay, and in what capacity.

Democrats, in their television appearances Sunday, were already digging in their heels.

"This administration is playing for delay," Kennedy said on the CBS. He called that "completely unacceptable."

President Abraham Lincoln put people in prison for the duration of the war for less than what the average democratic politician does nowadays. Kennedy and Kerry are their usual treasonous selves, I see.

Democrats = the party of retreat and defeat.

Is it any wonder that their party’s emblem is a jackass?

When my oldest boy went over to that sheithole the first time with the 3rd ID, the media went wild as usual with their BS lying reports and editorials, as usual.

Why the eff any thinking person would give even the time of day to the Aholes in the MSM is a complete mystery to me.

Any rational person knows you can’t make factual claims about something that doesn’t exist yet.

But the Democrats are not rational, and they’re counting on the voters to be too dumb to realize that. But according to polls about the surge, it doesn’t look like the Dems are going to get what they wanted.

Most of them probably aren't thinking. Public school for some time has been more about emoting.

Democrats make pre-emptive strike on Iraq reports

See them fulminate. Why the frenzy, the panic? The desperation?

Were there Iraq connections in some 1990s attacks? It appears that the Left absolutely must find a way to put Iraq behind us no matter the cost to our Nation and military. Helped by the media is it to save their vision for America? Their America, not our America. Their America would replace the Iwo Jima flag scene with the 1975 Saigon Embassy helicopter scene. Their proud accomplishment of a generation ago.

If there was Iraq involvement they're toast and it may be the clink for the Clintons and their toadies. Now that can lead to real desperation -- enough to steal and destroy our Nation's highest secret documents!

Take the 1993 WTC bombing. In CNN's ("The most busted news source") Peter Bergen's book, The Osama bin Laden I Know, Ramzi Yousef comes across to me like Bart Simpson when explaining his Iraqi passport. That old thing? Why I purchased that for $100 in Pakistan. Yes it's genuine.. you see Iraqi rebels steal Iraqi passports and you can buy them. I have no connections to Iraq and you can't prove I do.

Ms Laurie Mylroie, et al think he's lying. Mr. Bergen thinks Ms Mylroie is a crackpot*. Ms Mylroie is an expert and has written extensively on Iraq.

Yeah, sure Abdul Rahman Yasin, did flee New York to live with a family member in Baghdad in 1993 but hey! it was investigated. It means nothing says Mr. Bergen. Armchair Provocateur Laurie Mylroie: The Neocons' favorite conspiracy theorist.

Mr. Bergen says this "neocon hawk" works hand in glove with the most notorious of the "neocons." You know them: Perle, Wolfowitz, and (shudder) Lewis "Scooter" Libby are three of them. (Hmmm, what have been the orchestrated MSM attacks on Perle?)

Another mainstreamer with a good book (Triple Cross) on the jihadists attacks on us Peter Lance told Coasttocoast host Ian Punnett that Jayna Davis' claim that Iraqis were involved in the attack on the Murrah Building in OKC, "makes my blood boil." How dare she!

Mr. Bergen says that the C.I.A. "found no evidence implicating the Iraqi government in the first Trade Center attack." Then he quotes James Woolsey who headed the Agency between 1993 and 1995: "Anyone who wishes to continue to deal with Saddam by ignoring his role in international terrorism . . . and by giving only office furniture to the Iraqi resistance now has the staggering task of trying to refute [Ms Mylroie's] superb work." Go figure. Mr. Woolsey has also praised Ms Davis' work.

Mr. Bergen says that Federal judge Richard Matsch (OKC bombing case) would not allow any mention of Terry Nichols and the Philippines, thus no foreign connections; but Richard Clarke stated in his book that Nichols' bombs worked after he returned from over there.

Mr. Bergen scoffed at the idea that blunders by the federal government on both sides of the Wall (my term) are being "defended" (covered up) by tactics like "whenever this information emerges they move to discredit it." Yet, Mr. Peter Lance IMO pretty much proved that CYA is a major reason that the federal agencies were too distracted to catch Al Qadea's 9/11 plot. Mr. Lance is no supporter of Ms Mylroie and Iraq connections to any attacks here.

If Charlie Brown (a.k.a., the Republican Party) ever comes forth with proof of Iraqi involvement in any of the 1990s attacks it will be the end of the Rat Party of Bill and Hillary Clinton and the return of the traditional, patriotic Democratic Party of Truman, Kennedy (the good one), "Scoop" Jackson, Nunn, Humphrey . . . .

* Nevertheless in his own words Mr. Bergen says, Ms Mylroie "has held faculty positions at Harvard and the U.S. Naval War College and worked at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, as well as serving as an advisor on Iraq to the 1992 Clinton presidential campaign. She and "New York Times reporter Judith Miller wrote Saddam Hussein and the Crisis in the Gulf, a well-reviewed bestseller translated into more than a dozen languages."

Once again, my old retort, “we must never again, commit troops in combat without a formal Declaration of War"!

When will we learn?

Sheeple

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Sheeple is a term of disparagement, created by combining the words "sheep" and "people." It implies that those people it references believe whatever they are told, without processing it to be sure that it is an accurate representation of the real world around them. The term can be applied to any group, often in a political or comedic sense.
