NRA Director Says Five Rounds is Enough
JEWS FOR THE PRESERVATION OF FIREARMS OWNERSHIP ^ | September 6, 2007 | The Liberty Crew

That JPFO and the NRA have different views on "gun control" is no secret; you can read our position -- and view supporting evidence -- at http://www.jpfo.org/alert20061211.htm . You can also read an article on the NRA's recent alignment with gun-prohibitionist Carolyn McCarthy at http://www.jpfo.org/smith-nra.htm .

And now, NRA Director Joaquin Jackson has publically stated that magazine capacities should be limited to five rounds and that "assault weapons [sic] should be limited to military or police." That's right -- a director of the supposedly pro-gun NRA wants to take YOUR semi-automatic rifles away.

Don't believe us? Think it's just a rumor? View the evidence for yourself at http://www.klru.org/texasmonthlytalks/archives/movies/jackson5_44k.mov (we also have it mirrored on the JPFO site at http://www.jpfo.org/joaquin.mov ).

Already the NRA apologists are coming out of the woodwork. Anyone who points out the hypocrisy of Jackson's position are denounced as "wackos", "black helicopter paranoids," and "just trying to make a buck."

It's time to "Humiliate and Repudiate" Joaquin Jackson and the NRA. Go to http://www.jpfo.org/handbill-joaquin.jpg to see our latest handbill. Print it out and distribute it to those who still believe the NRA is working in the interest of gun owners. They are not.

If you value the truth more than betrayal and want an aggressive defense of your natural and Second Amendment rights, visit http://www.jpfo.org/member.htm to learn how you can join JPFO. We encourage you to use our "gun control" destroying books and videos ( http://shop.jpfo.org ) and get on board with us today.

No one “let” Jackson on the Board. He was elected.

Jackson, you play a good game, boy, but the game is over. Now you resign!

I joined the NRA because I thought it was an organization working to protect the 2nd Amendment. If the organization is electing un-American gun-grabbing scumbags to the BOARD OF DIRECTORS.....I’ll have nothing to do with it.

Oh, so blasting a group is knowing the workings? What happened to JPFO being my group, now you are trying to switch it to GOA? Where have I said that they were anti-RKBA? Please provide quotes.

Of course I don’t know about problems facing JPFO, they aren’t my group (as I have said repeatedly). I have never claimed to know everything about any groups.

Seems that you are the one that is geting desparate. Taking me apart? Not hardly, you have not provided a single quote that I requested. Have you heard or seen both sides of the rabbi’s situation or are you going on one sided information because you are bigoted against small groups?

The Sabbath is Sunday? Not hardly, it is Saturday. Ask your Jewish friends. Christians observe Sunday as being the holy day in rememberance of Easter. Looks like you need to educate yourself.

Cops often unload an entire magazine of 40 caliber ammo, and then continue trying to pull the trigger on their glock after it locks back when empty.

You just can't leave well enough alone, now can you? See post 199. YOUR post. PS:Sabbath-Old Testament, you would be correct. New Testament? Christmas free to observe Sabbath on Sunday.

Again, educate yourself. I have no need to provide you with YOUR quotes, they are here for all to read.

And how are you coming alone with the poor Rabbi? And the Simkin lawsuit?

Ok, I looked at it. So tell me, is that supposed to be where I claim that I know the workings of groups or is it where I supposedly push some other group?

Christmas is free to observe Sabbath on Sunday? You mean Christians and the New Testament does not change the Sabbath to Sunday. As you stated yourself, they are free (not required) to observe Sunday as the holy day.

So now you decide to change to a lawsuit? Just because of a lawsuit we are to change our view of a group? Has the NRA ever been in a lawsuit?

You won’t provide quotes because you can’t.

This is what the NRA Board member said in regards to what has been distorted:

“Recently, some misunderstandings have arisen about a news interview in which I participated a few years ago. After recently watching a tape of that interview, I understand the sincere concerns of many people, including dear friends of mine. And I am pleased and eager to clear up any confusion about my long held belief in the sanctity of the Second Amendment.

In the interview, when asked about my views of “assault weapons,” I was talking about true assault weapons – fully automatic firearms. I was not speaking, in any way, about semiautomatic rifles. While the media may not understand this critical distinction, I take it very seriously. But, as a result, I understand how some people may mistakenly take my comments to mean that I support a ban on civilian ownership of semiautomatic firearms. Nothing could be further from the truth. And, unfortunately, the interview was cut short before I could fully explain my thoughts and beliefs.

In fact, I am a proud owner of such rifles, as are millions of law-abiding Americans. And many Americans also enjoy owning fully automatic firearms, after being cleared by a background check and meeting the rigorous regulations to own such firearms. And these millions of lawful gun owners have every right – and a Second Amendment right – to own them.

As a hunter, I take great pride in my marksmanship. Every hunter should practice to be skilled to take prey with a single shot, if possible. That represents ethical, humane, skilled hunting. In the interview several years ago, I spoke about this aspect of hunting and my belief that no hunter should take the field and rely upon high capacity magazines to take their prey.

But that comment should never be mistaken as support for the outright banning of any ammunition magazines. In fact, such bans have been pursued over the years by state legislatures and the United States Congress and these magazine bans have always proven to be abject failures.

Let me be very clear. As a retired Texas Ranger, during 36 years of law enforcement service, I was sworn to uphold the United States Constitution. As a longtime hunter and shooter, an NRA Board Member, and as an American – I believe the Second Amendment is a sacred right of all law-abiding Americans and, as I stated in the interview in question, I believe it is the Second Amendment that ensures all of our other rights handed down by our Founding Fathers.

I have actively opposed gun bans and ammunition and magazine bans in the past, and I will continue to actively oppose such anti-gun schemes in the future.

I appreciate my friends who have brought this misunderstanding to light, for it has provided me an opportunity to alleviate any doubts about my strong support for the NRA and our Second Amendment freedom.”

Please.....bashing our conservative organizations is just what the other side wants us to do...so we self destruct while they take over! If you are an NRA member support them when you can with a little extra, if not you can just round can whatever fundraiser they sent. Ultimately, if you wish you can call NRA HQ to take your name off the list for such extra requests. I am a proud Benefactor Life Member of the NRA...As a woman who was raped at gunpoint at 27, I will support them to the day I die. I work as an election volunteer coordinator and donate countless hours, energy and money to communicate with the grass roots membership and HQ in my state. Go check out what he said and put your energy to use to work on issues we need to deal with!

Mormons celebrate the Sabbath on Sunday. Other Christians were freed from the bondage of Sabbath on Sat. But enough talk about religion.

Lawsuit? I changed nothing. You said you were going to research it. Apparently you've done nothing. Must I teach you EVERYTHING?

I provided you with Zelman's words, in essence. He stated the Simkin lawsuit would perhaps tear JPFO asunder. That's not a quote. But close enough. It should take you all of 2 minutes to read it if you were interested. Obviously you aren't.

You want me to provide you quotes of what you've said? Are you the suicidal dyslexic twin who killed his brother by accident?

If you are going to post an article here on FR, fine. If you are going to use it as a basis to attack another group? Fine. But be ready to back it up. To that end, you've failed, and failed miserably. Stop talking and start reading. The basis for your anti-NRA/Jackson tirade is a document from JPFO. When you defend the article, you defend them. I simply pointed out they(JPFO) are not without fault and you lost your water, if not your mud.

I apologize for any spelling errors. Trying to watch football while amusing myself on my laptop....

First, let me say that I am sorry to read that you were violated in such a dispicable, reprehensible, vial way. I hope the POS that did it to you at the very least got sent away. I applaud you in your volunteering, etc.

Now, having read his response have you watched the video? If you have, I would like your take on his response in regards to what he states in the video. If you haven’t, please do and then give me your take.

Being freed to observe Sunday as the holy day does not make it the Sabbath.

I said I would research the rabbi incident as you asked about that. Completely different that Simkin’s lawsuit.

“The basis for your anti-NRA/Jackson tirade”

Where have I been anti-NRA, where have I said do not join the NRA? Just because I took them to task for things they have done does not make me anti-NRA. If you think that you are the “suicidal dyslexic twin”. That would make you no different than the pro-amnesty crowd because being against amnesty makes you a racist.

Being anti-Jackson, fair enough I will agree to that. Why am I? Because this is a person that should know better. Having sworn to protect the Constitution, he should not said any of those things in the interview or in the response.

So tell me, where is the article wrong? The words came out of his mouth and no matter what he says in his “response” the article is not incorrect.

I have never claimed that any group is perfect, as I have stated previously. Neither is the NRA so does that mean that lost your water/mud?

Stop being a NRA-bot and start thinking for yourself.

I am watching football and typing on the laptop also, but I’m not having that problem.

Try reading post 219. Your words. You claim the '86 FOPA was a mistake. Yet it was supported by not only NRA, but GOA and by extension, Neal Knox, as he supported it. Then you claim JPFO is trying to correct this. That is where I'm drew inferences to your many errors in what you are posting.

You were not aware GOA nor Neal Knox (one of the greatest defenders of RKBA) supported this, yet you believe it to be a mistake and JPFO is trying to correct it. So therefore JPFO knows more about RKBA legislation than does NRA/GOA/ and by extension Neal Knox.

Who the hell are you? Walter Mitty?

If ANY religion chooses to call Sunday the Sabbath (and many do) then you have no right to tell them any different.

So now you are explaining the troubles of JPFO to me? Funny guy. You had not even heard of them prior to today.

You made a spelling/grammar error above. I pointed it out to you.

Anything else I can help you with?

Never claimed they knew more, they came after the fact and so saw the affect on gun owners. Have the NRA changed course and pushed for eliminating the unconstitutional provisions of the FOPA since? I have tried to find out if Neal has but not found anything. Does that make him any less RKBA? No, just human but he also has been against many bills that the NRA has been for.

I had searched for GOA’s stance on FOPA and could not find anything until you provided it. From my understanding, they have also been pushing for eliminating those provisions. Am I incorrect on that?

So are you saying that the NRA is trouble free? Hardly, all groups have them. Does that make them any less of a group. Nope. That is the way the world works.

By the way, I have read the one sided accounts about what happened with the rabbi and with Simkins/Rice and have the following observations and will not make a complete decision due to the lack of the other side of the stories:

If Rice was worried about problems with IRS and Zelman would not listen, he did what was right for him by quitting. All orgs have people with differences that causes many to leave. Neal had differences with others in NRA and was voted out because of them.

Simkin did what had to be done to get the copyright for Lethal Laws, seeing as Zelman did not want to give it up (which he had the right to do). Should Zelman just given up the rights, would have been an easier solution to the problem but that is a decision he had to make. Sometimes lawsuits cost more than they are worth for the plaintiffs.

Rabbi’s situation was a little different, was a wage agreed upon? How is it that JPFO should pay, per hour or otherwise, for emails and phone calls about things that have nothing to do with JPFO articles? It was stated that he was not looking for money when he approached JPFO and yet they discuss his pay trying to raise outrage over “under $3 per hour” and the number of hours he worked on the second job (writing for JPFO). That is a chance you take working multiple jobs (I have been through that). Ownership of the articles, emails, etc. would have to be decided in court, due to lack of contract or agreement. Is it fair, not really but happens all the time.

I see, now you are a religion also? Funny guy. Wow how do you fit it all in? Almighty king of NRA, religion, what else?

I am starting to see a trend here. How dare anyone question/challenge things that you hold dear. I belong to a religion that is a minority here in the South. I question/challenge things that held dear down here (blue laws).
