NRA Director Says Five Rounds is Enough
JEWS FOR THE PRESERVATION OF FIREARMS OWNERSHIP ^ | September 6, 2007 | The Liberty Crew

That JPFO and the NRA have different views on "gun control" is no secret; you can read our position -- and view supporting evidence -- at http://www.jpfo.org/alert20061211.htm . You can also read an article on the NRA's recent alignment with gun-prohibitionist Carolyn McCarthy at http://www.jpfo.org/smith-nra.htm .

And now, NRA Director Joaquin Jackson has publically stated that magazine capacities should be limited to five rounds and that "assault weapons [sic] should be limited to military or police." That's right -- a director of the supposedly pro-gun NRA wants to take YOUR semi-automatic rifles away.

Don't believe us? Think it's just a rumor? View the evidence for yourself at http://www.klru.org/texasmonthlytalks/archives/movies/jackson5_44k.mov (we also have it mirrored on the JPFO site at http://www.jpfo.org/joaquin.mov ).

Already the NRA apologists are coming out of the woodwork. Anyone who points out the hypocrisy of Jackson's position are denounced as "wackos", "black helicopter paranoids," and "just trying to make a buck."

It's time to "Humiliate and Repudiate" Joaquin Jackson and the NRA. Go to http://www.jpfo.org/handbill-joaquin.jpg to see our latest handbill. Print it out and distribute it to those who still believe the NRA is working in the interest of gun owners. They are not.

If you value the truth more than betrayal and want an aggressive defense of your natural and Second Amendment rights, visit http://www.jpfo.org/member.htm to learn how you can join JPFO. We encourage you to use our "gun control" destroying books and videos ( http://shop.jpfo.org ) and get on board with us today.

Actually wouldn’t that be the better way to go, educate about the perils of gun control and get rid gun control without lobbying?

"You may not find very many cops and military officers who would refuse an order to confiscate your guns, on some simple whim of government."

Do you remember back in the mid 90s, before freerepublic had come into being, a brigade of USMC in a training expidition at Twentynine Palms was given a questionaire by the Klinton Admin that asked, among other things, "would you obey an order to disarm the American public?" All but a few of the enlisted men stated that they had taken an oath that required them to disobey such an order.

Let's hope that the USMC is still such a high caliber organisation.

If you don't believe this, go start a new organization called 'Red-Blooded Americans For Assault Weapons and High Capacity Drum Magazines, Incorporated' and see how successful you are at it. Can you name two congress-critters who would seek your endorsement?

Political reality doesn't faze the NRA bashers on FR, that somehow think we'd be any different than the British today without the NRA.

FMCDH posturing aside, we'd all be shooting rubber band guns today if the NRA didn't exist.

Perhaps you should also have posted Mr. Jackson's 8/15/07 follow-up to what was taken out of context back in 2005:

Here Mr. Subscription Solicitator is the Statement of Joaquin Jackson:

Wednesday, August 15, 2007

Recently, concerns have been raised in response to statements made by NRA Board Member Joaquin Jackson to Texas Monthly in 2005. We have received questions from NRA members who are seeking clarity as to NRA’s positions on the subject matter discussed in Mr. Jackson’s interview. To be clear, NRA supports the right of all law-abiding citizens to Keep and Bear Arms for all lawful purposes. We will continue, as we have in the past, to vigorously oppose any efforts to limit gun ownership by law-abiding citizens as an unconstitutional infringement on our Second Amendment freedoms. These efforts include opposition to any attempts to ban firearms, including firearms incorrectly referred to as "assault weapons", and any attempts to place arbitrary limits on magazine capacity.

For more information on NRA's legislative efforts to protect and defend the Second Amendment, please visit www.NRAILA.org and www.Clintongunban.com.

STATEMENT OF JOAQUIN JACKSON

Recently, some misunderstandings have arisen about a news interview in which I participated a few years ago. After recently watching a tape of that interview, I understand the sincere concerns of many people, including dear friends of mine. And I am pleased and eager to clear up any confusion about my long held belief in the sanctity of the Second Amendment.

In the interview, when asked about my views of “assault weapons,” I was talking about true assault weapons – fully automatic firearms. I was not speaking, in any way, about semiautomatic rifles. While the media may not understand this critical distinction, I take it very seriously. But, as a result, I understand how some people may mistakenly take my comments to mean that I support a ban on civilian ownership of semiautomatic firearms. Nothing could be further from the truth. And, unfortunately, the interview was cut short before I could fully explain my thoughts and beliefs.

In fact, I am a proud owner of such rifles, as are millions of law-abiding Americans. And many Americans also enjoy owning fully automatic firearms, after being cleared by a background check and meeting the rigorous regulations to own such firearms. And these millions of lawful gun owners have every right – and a Second Amendment right – to own them.

As a hunter, I take great pride in my marksmanship. Every hunter should practice to be skilled to take prey with a single shot, if possible. That represents ethical, humane, skilled hunting. In the interview several years ago, I spoke about this aspect of hunting and my belief that no hunter should take the field and rely upon high capacity magazines to take their prey.

But that comment should never be mistaken as support for the outright banning of any ammunition magazines. In fact, such bans have been pursued over the years by state legislatures and the United States Congress and these magazine bans have always proven to be abject failures.

Let me be very clear. As a retired Texas Ranger, during 36 years of law enforcement service, I was sworn to uphold the United States Constitution. As a longtime hunter and shooter, an NRA Board Member, and as an American – I believe the Second Amendment is a sacred right of all law-abiding Americans and, as I stated in the interview in question, I believe it is the Second Amendment that ensures all of our other rights handed down by our Founding Fathers.

I have actively opposed gun bans and ammunition and magazine bans in the past, and I will continue to actively oppose such anti-gun schemes in the future.

I appreciate my friends who have brought this misunderstanding to light, for it has provided me an opportunity to alleviate any doubts about my strong support for the NRA and our Second Amendment freedom.

If I didn't know better I would say you were also a member of the "Sportsmen for John Kerry" group...........

Probably not but your efforts certainly aren't doing the "cause" any good by trying to drum up anti-NRA sentiments...........

Now you're telling us that you're not even an NRA member?

We went through that whole discussion that you started with me, and you're not an NRA member?

This whole issue doesn't even apply to you.

Perhaps you should read the posts on here by myself and others. His response has been posted at least 2 times before and you will find numerous posts by myself and others that tear his response apart. Have you seen the video yet, if not I suggest watching it and then reading his reponse and decide yourself. Many people don’t buy into his response.

Have you read any of my posts? How can you say that it does not help the “cause” by outing people that infest and pervert the “cause” from the inside. Outing them and purging them can only help. The saying “With friends like these who needs enemies?” Sorry, but I have never been the “just shut up and take it” or the “bend over and take it” type of person and I don’t plan on starting now.

What do you think the founding fathers would say about his statements? Do you honestly think that they would not have let it go? Do you honestly think that they would be ok with the NRA (or any other pro gun group) supporting gun control?

His response has been posted at least 2 times before

Maybe so but I haven't read them or any thread relevant to such.

So why are you so passionate about an interview that was publicized two years ago if not to attempt to drum up membership for the JPFO? Are you getting a commission?

JFPO is the best gun rights educator we have.

The NRA education efforts are mostly safety and marksmanship. JFPO goes right to the heart of why we all need to remain armed, and prepared to answer the tyrants at the local and national level.

"an interview that was publicized two years ago"

Evidently no one noticed the interview. They noticed the rerun.

From KLRU: "August 9, 2007: Texas Ranger Joaquin Jackson Retired Texas Ranger Joaquin Jackson talks with Evan Smith about his life in that legendary force, his new autobiography, and his work in movies and with the NRA. (repeat)"

Jackson's "explaination" is also recent and the "most famous TX Ranger of modern time" flat out lied about what he was talking about. He blames the listener/reader for being too stupid to realize he was talking about class III guns, when in fact talking about semi-autos. Then he gives some crap about how he was cut short. BS. He's a liar. I wonder how many people went to jail, because this clown lied on the witness stand.

The NRA quit me about 17 years ago.

They quit me too. When it comes to the RTKABA, you do not compromise one inch.

If I am doing harm to the reputation or the mission of the group, I would expect that they could remove me. Is that an unreasonable expectation?

Not at all, but it must be done under the rules that now exist. Rules can be changed of course, but I suspect if the leadership wants him gone, there's a way to do it, just as you do, but I don't *know*.

I don’t live in TX, never have, so I (along with most of the US) would not have seen this interview. If it had been nation wide back in 2005 we most likely would have been having this discussion back then. Had it not been for JPFO the rest of the nation would not have found out what he said. Did you know about it prior to today?

Not getting any commission for anyone that may be swayed to join them and frankly I would not accept any. I would have them use that money for more educational research, material, movies, etc. Why are you so passionate about attacking others without reading this more of this thread?

As repulsive as it is, and getting worse, lobbying is where the rubber meets the road.

With less than 10K members (my last info), JPFO is severely limited as to what they can do. The $$ just ain't there. Nor is the political power.

I don't like that things are that way, but I don't make the rules.

The Second Amendment has nothing whatsoever to do with hunting and "sport" use of a rifle or shotgun. The NRA lost me years ago when they first began that political spin about protecting hunter's rights.

It ain't about hunting, at least not unless you count government employees and elected officials as game.

THAT is why we have a Second Amendment.

All it takes is one member to join at a time for an organization to grow.

That's how Second Amendment Sisters is doing it! Are we on a par with the NRA? No...but we're having successes here and there, making inroads every day and we're not quitting! We get bigger each and every day. And....we're no compromise as far as gun rights are concerned!!!
